When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

Since starting to indugle in your recipes about a year ago, I have become a devoted fan of vegan recipes, especially dairy free. I even have convinced my hubbie how wonderful vegan food can be, all thanks to you! I would love this book to help me further be on the road to a healthier lifestyle. My husband and I are in the process of trying for our first baby and just lost the first one early on. So, I am doing everything to keep my body healthy and ready to try again in just a few weeks!!
So happy for Mama Pea! Would love to have a copy of my very own.
I would love that stuff….I have a friend with a new baby that would love the bib…and I would love to get decked out and make some vegan recipes for her family!
Omigosh, I want this cookbook! I love the Peas And Thank You blog as well; I got hooked on her witty stories that puts my creative writing degree to shame. ;)
WOW, look how many comments! i know mama pea is a superstar but being over in the UK, ive missed out on alot of the hype… I would love love LOVE to win her cookbook as i suffer with many food allergies and intolerances that have impeded my recovery from an ED. I am now approaching health in a positive and forwards thinking way and Im sure that having a book like this would help me no end! :-)
Eeeeeeeek! I would love to win thi fabulous cookbook! I am completely in love with the world of health-blog recipes but I miss having the actual cookbook in my hand! :-) *side note: Still waiting (eagerly) for the “Oh She Glows” cookbook!!!!!!!!
All we are say-ing…is give peas a chance! ;-) I’d love to win the cookbook — the husband and I are trying to ease into a more vegetarian lifestyle, for health reasons, and this would be an amazing help.
I would love to have a copy of Mama Pea’s book – looks amazing! I’m also expecting and would love that adorable bib for my little one!
I’m surprised doughballs weren’t on that list! I would loooove to have this cookbook! Fingers crossed!
Angela- I am a huge fan of your blog. I am a registered dietitian and have talked about your recipes and even made some on t.v. for live at 5 segments. Anyways, I love cooking vegetarian and would love the peas and thank you cook book!
What a lovely cookbook (and a lovely family to boot!) I would love to have a copy:)
I’ve only recent started reading Peas and Thank You, but it has instantly become one of my top bookmarked blogs to go to. Her cookbook has got to be amazing, and as a vegetarian I am constantly looking for new things to try regardless of if they are vega, gluten free, raw, etc etc. Also, how flippin’ cute is that bib!?!
meant to be Vegan, not vega! Whoops!
Looks like a great cookbook! I’d love to check it out!
Whoa! What an entry already — 630?!? Everyone in bloggieland must be trying to get their hands on this prize! I love the looks and sounds of this cookbook ~ it’s on my wishlist!
Looks great! That is going on my amazon list PRONTO!
OMG – I have a two year old, if I don’t win this draw I will be getting this book asap, do you know if it is sold at Chapters?
I have been dialing back on meat lately. And although I think its just a tastebud thing, I’m kind of liking it. Although I’m not looking to make a lifestyle change completely away from meat, I do want to have less of it and possibly get the hubby away from it some more as well. This looks like the ticket!!
The book looks so nice! My mouth is already watering :)
I’d absolutey love winning this book! I am on a journey to healthier living and this would be a great recipe book to learn some great recipes!
I had preordered it but Amazon.ca now won’t ship for 1 – 2 months! I cannot wait that long!
