When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

Love reading your tweets. I am a cookbook
collector, I just love them. And with a son,
who is vegan I’m always looking for new ideas.
I just went over to her site… Adorable and delicious! Thanks, for introducing us : )
Count me in! Mama Pea and her family are so cute and I’d love to have that cookbook =]
I would love to win the cookbook! The recipes seem like they would please any family, be they meat eaters or not!
I pre-ordered my copy of Peas and Thank You , but it won’t get here until tomorrow!! So I ventured over to Barnes and Noble today to check it out because I couldn’t wait another minute!! I’m soo excited to try out some more of her recipes!!!
I really must have this cookbook! I have been following Peas and Thank You for quite some time. It was actually her blog (and Eat, Live, Run) that brought me to your blog. I have toyed around with being a vegetarian for several years. Within the last few months (after reading these blogs), I have a renewed inspiration to not only truly be a vegetarian, but to be vegan. My family is on board with the idea and I have been devouring your blog to completely redesign my own recipe collection.
By the way, I just tried the Classic Green Monster after my workout yesterday. LOVE it!!!
I too have had many a chuckle thanks to Mama Pea’s hilarious story telling skills. Her recipeas ;) are so beautiful, creative and often super easy to put together. This cookbook would make recreating the Peas and Thank you blog recipeas much easier to bring into my kitchen – no more running to the other room to check the compy!
Pick me! Pick me!
That Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad looks amazing.
If I don’t win this book, I will definitely be buying it! I haven’t bought a good cookbook in a while and I am so excited for this one!
What an adorable title! I would love to get into more healthful eating, but so far haven’t found a cookbook that seems appealing. Hopefully this is the one?
I’d love to win. Always looking for new ideas, and that guac looks so good! =)
I just discovered healthy living/food blogs recently and am having so much fun reading yours (and Mama Pea’s)!
I MUST know what the secret ingredient is in the yogi guac :)
I would love to win a pea pack and a cookbook. If the recipeas in her book are as good as her zucchini quinoa lasagna, her tempeh tamale pie and her PB chocolate chip cookie dough balls, I am in for a treat!
I’d love a copy of Peas and Thank You!
Love me some Mama Pea! And she has the two cutest, healthiest kids ever.
O am dying for some good man friendly vegan recipeas
Hahaha…may the peas be with you…I love corny jokes ;) And cookbooks!
