I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!

We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

All types of fruits and vegetables of course! But a more “vegan” product that I recently discovered is seitan. So good.
I am addicted to the raw vegan macaroons we’ve been making lately, but my all-time favorite is guacamole. :-)
My favorite vegan food would have to be chickpeas. No wait, oatmeal! Honestly, I can’t choose, because I eat both every single day. Both have amazing nutritious benefits and are so versatile with every meal. Yummy!
Favorite vegan food… Roasted root vegetables with quinoa and peanut sauce. Also Kaia Foods buckwheat granola with dates & spices!
That would have to be tofu coconut curry! Sooo delicious, I’m making it tonight!
My favorite vegan food currently is your carrot “cake” oatmeal! I think a google search (I’m a recent convert to oatmeal – grew up in the south on grits – and can’t get enough of creative recipes) led me to your blog. :-)
I love nutritional yeast! I’m not vegan or vegetarian and never thought I would be. I’m ashamed to admit that I even passed judgement on my sister (internally) for making that lifestyle choice for herself. WHAT ABOUT THE PROTEIN!?!? I said.
Crazy thing is…since I went to the county fair last summer (it seems funny to even write that) and suffered through the animal displays, I have just been disgusted at the thought of meat entering my body. I’ve all but stopped cooking with it at home without even trying to. I just don’t want to touch it anymore.
I’m really thinking about making the switch, but really not sure if I have the commitment. Not sure why I wrote this novel? I guess I’m just tired of internalizing my little dilemma. haha.
I hope you’re having a good trip, Angela!
The buddha bowl at Fresh is one of the most delicious things!
Mama Pea’s vegan cookie dough balls have changed my cookie-lovin’ life!

I’m loving reading about your holiday adventures.
That is very generous of you. I won’t enter the competition because customs would probably stop the hemp entering Australia!
My favourite vegan food is any food made with Earth Balance. I love baking :) Macaroons, and cookies are my fave.
Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite vegan foods is roasted butternut squash!
Definitely quinoa with roasted butternut squash cubes tossed together and drizzled with balsamic!
By far my favorite vegan food is Green Smoothies!!
My fav vegan meal is kale and liquid aminos salad. Yum!!!
Sweet potato sushi!
Kale and cannellini beans sauteed with garlic. Yum!
I’m not Vegan and I never buy any prepared foods, Vegan or not. However, at least 50% of the time I eat a vegan diet because that’s what I like and what makes me feel healthy. Most of the time it’s completely unintentional that I prepared a vegan meal, it just sounded good. Recently I had Mama Pea’s Sloppy Joes – amazing! I love Daily Garnish’s Vegan mushroom cream sauce. Oh and her Sweet potato and lentil chili is currently in my freeze along with Joy the Baker’s Vegan Cream of Mushroom and Broccoli Soups (two separate soups) – also delicious. I’m sure there’s tons more, but I can’t think of anything else at the moment.
So many…nut butters and fresh fruit are probably at the top of my list though.
Apart from every single vegan dessert on your blog (seriously – SWOOON!), I’d have to say nutritional yeast. It makes savoury meals deliciously cheesy and sweet snack delightfully nutty. Best of both worlds :)
Looks like your NYC trip was amazing!!
