I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!

We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Homemade roasted red pepper hummus is way up there… and chocolate mousse made with avocados! Gorgeous. :)
I love peanut butter!
when my mom flew in the jfk to visit me in march (i live in ct) i met her at the airport and then we took the subway (first time for her) to candle cafe. and. it. was. amazing.
I had this tofu/portabella/greens/sweet potato/vegan gravy dish and omg the best. i want to recreate.
Wow, those goodies look and sound amaazing! One of my fave vegan foods is FALAFELS. Mmmm. That was hard picking just one though. What a generous giveaway!
Blackbean burgers and black bean soup! YUM!
Wow, tough one, there are so many! But I’m going to go with every variation on stove top cooked oatmeal! Add pumpkin… or peanut butter, banana, chocolate… Comfort food + dessert wrapped in one :)
Barley! Cooked in a Zojurushi rice cooker and then seasoned with a small bit of shoyu and ground giner, yum! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Honestly, right now my fave vegan food is your pumpkin mac n cheeze….so comforting!! I’m even bringing it to a holiday party tomorrow night!!
Definitely homemade vegan pizza with daiya and veggies! Not even the “real” stuff can compare.
Vegan mac & cheese, which my boyfriend and I call mac n’ yeast! ;)
Apples and peanut butter. A classic, but my favorite.
Quite possibly falafels! Baked, not fried of course ;)
My favourite vegan food would have to be kale chips! I love that there are so many variations to them and that they are a healthy replacement for chips :)
My favorite vegan food isn’t just one food, it is a meal. Not just any meal but one that I had at a local raw vegan cafe. I had an open faced hummus sammy on this dehydrated bread that was just AHmazing. The hummus was heavenly and the fresh veggies on top were just delightful. Anything that is topped with fresh avocado slices can’t be wrong! Nope, in fact, anything with avocado is quickly going to the top of my MUST EAT list! They also managed to make raw vegan pumpkin pie ice cream that made me SWEAR they were hiding my grandma’s pumpkin pie back in the back freezer somewhere. Then there was this cheesecake that was made with a cashew base instead of vegan cream cheese, and it had a berry compote topping that reminded me a lot of guava. I’m STILL trying to figure out how to recreate that one! What’s your fav?
Coconut Milk Ice cream has to be my favorite vegan-specific food! Or maybe Banana Soft Serve. Then it can be considered raw too…right?
Vegan pancakes! No one needs eggs! And I would love to win this!
Roasted vegetables – specifically kale chips are very addicting!
Love vegan mac and cheese!
vegan pumpkin pie is my absolute fav! Funny, because I can’t stand the regular kind!
It’s a toss up between Green Monsters & Kale Chips!!!
