I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!

We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Awwww you’re such a doll to think of all of us! I have to pick just ONE favourite vegan food? Hmmm…lasagna, or pizza, or chocolate chip cookies, or Nanaimo bars! I just can’t decide :D
Also, I’m the same- I get suuuper shy taking pictures of food at restaurants, so sometimes I leave the camera at home when I go on dates with Dallas. We get stared at less :P
Vegan soy chicken salad from Whole Foods or Earthfare!! I’m living in China right now and we have NO vegan substitutes which is great because it makes for clean eating, but I would pretty much give my left arm for some of that stuff right now. :)
Vegan Chilli without a doubt
Hi Angela! I am experimenting with vegan food and your blog has been a great help for me. I recently made your pea pesto pasta and it was absolutely delicious! So far, this would be my favorite vegan dish:)
savory oats :) I would never have thought myself to eat oats this way but once I found it somewhere, I fell in love :)
I would love to try these treats. My favorite vegan food has to be roasted winter vegetables !
What a beautiful idea to share your “lucky” experiences with us! My fav vegan food at the moment – it’s acutally really hard to choose – is TOFU, in every kind of taste, in every kind of combination! Thanks for all your delicious recipes, they inspire me every day to get out of my salad-with-tofu-routine! Have fun in NY, hugs from Germany*
So hard to choose! But my favorite vegan food would probably have to be granola. I love to experiment with different nuts and dried fruits with each batch, including pumpkin! Which is also one of my favorite foods. I love anything with pumpkin.. or banana.. or almond butter.. the list could go on!
Mmmm…Vegan “Green Lentil & Black Bean Verde Enchiladas” with home made salsa and guacamole! Nothing better than these super delicious, super nutritious enchiladas on a cold evening with my honey. Best part, my little ones devour these faster than I do!
Hmmm either the tornado wraps at Native Foods or my vegan plant fusion chocolate protein powder. YUM!
Let me tell you: I love you for making worldwide give-aways ;-) I would love to get these treats, especially as New York is sooooo far away from me (I live in Europe!). So, on to my favorite vegan food…hm…I’m no vegan, but I’m trying a lot of your recipes (and other bloggers too), but I think lately my favorite vegan foods are vegan cupcakes!! (I did bake some from the book “Vegan Cupcakes takes over the world) My favorite flavour are chocolate-mint cupcakes, mmmmh! Have a nice weekend!!
vegan chocolate covered anything – fruit, dried fruit, nuts! Such a treat :D
My favorite vegan food would have to be oatmeal! I also really love your butternut squash macaroni and cheeze.
Kale and nutritional yeast!
Wow it looks like you’re having such an amazing time in NY! I’m hoping to make it there one day and, when I do, I’ll definitely look up One Lucky Duck. That shop looks awesome!
Such a generous giveaway! I’ve been struggling for the past 10 mins to think of my favourite vegan food… there’s far too many to choose from! One of my favourite vegan meals has got to be dhal & rice. So simple, yet so delicious!
At the moment I can’t stop baking all sorts of christmas cookies. The more nuts the better!
Peanutty Butter-I eat it in some form everyday. Straight from the spoon is my perferred method!
For their versatility and nutrition: mushrooms, quinoa, pumpkin & nutritional yeast…to name a few (I’m Vegan 3 months now…not that these ingredients can’t be enjoyed by all :) ). <3
So many its hard to choose….but, if I must…lately, I’ve been obsessed with your
Holiday Salad with Cranberry Apple Orange Vinaigrette…amazeballs!!!
Vegan banana cream pie. Smooth, creamy, healthy – 100% delicious. :)
