One Lucky Duck Big Gift Sampler Giveaway!

December 1, 2011

IMG_0323

I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.

At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.

We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!

We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.

I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!

It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.

It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

My favorite vegan food is definitely the chilled double chocolate torte (Chilled version)!!
It was so easy to make, high in nutrients (from the nuts and maple syrup), comforting, so decadent, and definitely a perfect way to end my meal !

oh well, another favorite of mine would be the unmistakable avocado pasta! Sinless and very creamy!

After seriously debating for about five minutes, I have to say vegan brownies. My friends never know the difference and always ask for more. Plus who doesn’t love CHOCOLATE!

I’m going to be reeeaally boring and just say baked sweet potato fries dipped in your barbecue sauce! Am actually thinking of making a little twist on it by sprinkling the fries with a little za’atar. it gives a zingy lemony flavor that am SURE i’ll adore on them…my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I think nutritional yeast has become my biggest dietary staple since going vegan- I love it on salads! But I’ll always love any vegan baked goods. Not only do I think they always taste better, but they’re a great way to introduce people to the joys of veganism!

so, first thing’s first: been an avid reader since i first discovered your blog almoust 2 years ago(?) but somehow shy to comment on of your posts, though god knows i’ve been salivating intensively on some of your amazing creations and bookmarking ernestly. So, now that i’ve declared my stalkerish stance back to the food – for me it’s very much seasonal or what i’m completely fixated with at the time; at the moment its vegan brownies for breakfast EVERY DAY without fail. I love sweets, especially the non-guilt inducing kind and my sweet thoot is not that big of a monster which means im easily satisfied with very little sweetner in all recipes so i don’t walk around every morning with a constant sugar rush:). Lucky dip – can i just say how incredibly lucky and blessed i think your are?i leave in london and we have our fair share of vegan\raw shops, restaurants but nothing of that caliber.(sorry for the written form logorrhea)

Though it is impossible to pick ONE favorite, if I had to, I’d say any kind of roasted vegetables, like roasted squash, or brussel sprouts, or broccoli, or potatoes with onions and bell pepper… With extra virgin olive oil, some seasoning, and definitely sea salt. Ohhhhhhh, comfort foooodd!!! My aunt made Brussels sprouts and spring onions roasted with olive oil and Herbs de Napa for Thanksgiving, and Oh My they were amazing! I would have been happy with just the bowl of brussels for dinner and dessert!

Favourite vegan food: oven-roasted vegetables. Roasting them until crisp, after rolling them in coconut oil and sea salt. Mmm. There is nothing better. I usually devour the whole batch in one sitting, I love them so.

I absolutely love pumkin and chickpeas: so toghether that makes pumpkin pie hummus or pumpkin pie spice roasted chickpeas. yum!
With the chickpeas in the mix I’m really looking forward to your recreation of the candle 79 ckickpea cake. Please bump that to the top of your list! :-)
Lucky duck sounds soooo amazing, I really need to get to NY soon.

I love reading all your NYC posts!! Even more so ’cause I was there myself a few weeks ago! :)
I went to the Chelsea Marked too and was so surprised to find One Lucky Duck there!! Didn’t not now that! :)
My favorite vegan snack is quite simple…. Gina’s ‘cheezy’ kale chips! :) Kale chips in general!
But anything winter squash and quinoa is just a match made in heaven! :)
Since my budged didn’t allow me to buy anything at OLD@NYC I’d be one lucky duck to win it! :)
