I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!

We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Leave a comment below telling me one of your favourite vegan foods and I’ll pick One Lucky Duck on Tuesday! Goodluck. :)
This contest is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.

my favorite vegan food is my green monster smoothie that gets me started everyday!!
It’s hard because I eat so many vegan foods without thinking about it…
Quinoa is pretty great, though.
Open to anywhere in the world?!? You are a goddess. My favourite vegan food has to be my brownie recipe… but I couldn’t live without peanut butter (I love cashew butter even more, but have been forced to live without it since moving to Japan… without my pb, I don’t know what I’d do).
My favourite vegan food has to be roasted kabocha squash, actually roasted anything! Roasting seems to give vegetables the most fantastic flavour. But at the end of the day all I really want is your brownie pumpkin pie :P
Definitely your vegan overnight oats!! They have honestly changed my life! I used to eat store bought cereal, laden with sugar and other junk. Now I am consistently starting the day off with these fab oats :)
Hi Angela,
I’ve been following your blog for several months now and can’t tell you how much I enjoy all your recipies and motivaitonal posts. You are such an insiration to someone who believes a healthy lifestyle is one of the greatest investments anyone can make. Thanks for brightening each day with your reviews of the lastest in vegan health! (and my favourite vegan food has to be seaweed – wakame, duslse, arame etc – full of vitamins and minerals ;) )
I love your pumpkin pie brownies!
Pre-workout peanut butter!!!
Versatile deliciousness.. by the spoonful, with a banana or dare I say.. PB chocolate crunch blizzard?? The cold weather won’t stop me from making this new favorite :)
My favorite vegan food is a baked sweet potato with Earth Balance, a sprinkle of sea salt and a splash of maple syrup.
Hummus, any kind of hummus. Oh, and nut butters!
You are awesome.
My favorite right now would have to be oatmeal w/ almond milk. Not only does it keep me full all morning, but I can change it up every day (berries, bananas, apples & cinnamon, nut butters)! AND the best part is that i have my meat-eating roomie hooked! She even eats oatmeal for dinner now sometimes!
Vegan carrot cake with lemon icing
My all time favorite food is is probably homemade guacamole! So good! A close second would be vegan Thai green curry with veggies and brown rice.
Your trip to NYC looks like so much fun!
I could not imagine life without my morning bowl of oatmeal, topped with homemade tahini and lots of cinnamon!
Vegan chocolate chip cookies with a glass of unsweetened almond milk .. YUM
green drinks, nut cheez, and dates! (all separate) :)
not easy to chose one…. umm, spinach, everything with spinach! Best: sautéed with garlic and onion, deglazed with some vegan cream.
My fav vegan food is HUMMUS! Anytime, Anywhere….mmmmmmmm.
Oats- especially parfait style! Or nutritional yeast….might be a tie :)
There are so many vegan foods to love, broccoli, for instance. :) But my favorite vegan meal to make is the Joy of Cooking veggie chili. Everybody likes it!
I really love this giveaway! I’ve never been to New York, but I’ve read lots of rave reviews of One Lucky Duck/Pure Food and Wine.
