I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!

We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

My favorite vegan food is squash!
Tuscan (lacinato) Kale…chopped and lightly seasoned and sauteed with garlic and finished w/ high quality olive oil….the perfect accompaniment to any meal. Simple, and SO good for you, too. :)
raw vegan cookies or greens!!:)
I love Kale Chips
Hm… hard to decide… Ready-made vegan food is kind of hard to find where I live, so mostly I make something yummy myself (some of my favorites are burritos, beet-ginger-banana-apple-smoothies and ALL Indian food). Also, I fell in love with the vegan vanilla-blueberry-cupcakes I made for my birthdayparty last year.
But when I visited the US last summer, I was amazed with all the vegan food, everywhere! Restaurants where I could pick EVERY item on the menu made me totally indecisive, and than all those huge organic grocery stores… I spend hours in the Whole Foods / Earth Fare / Trader Joe’s, picking up stuff and calling my husband: “check this out, MORE vegan stuff!!”.
Our favorites were Earth Fare’s Mock Chicken Curry Salad and the vegan fresh Almond Cookies at Whole Foods. I still dream about those cookies…
I LOVE the chocolate cake batter smoothie!
My favorite is the Mushroom Millet Soup!
What a fantastic giveaway! My favorite vegan foods are definitely kale chips, kale salads… Basically anything with kale! Yum!
Ohh my favorite vegan food, I don’t know if I could just pick one. I love quinoa, black bean burgers and your vegan butternut squash mac n cheese.
My new vegan favourite is your overnight oats. It has made breakfast a treat
Tough to choose! I’m going to say green monsters. Most delicious way to eat your greens!
My favorite vegan food is probably the dish my husband made for me last night: Orecchiette with caramelized onion, white beans and rapini. Mmm…
Your Vegan Pumpkin Pie! My first time ever eating this dish, so so good!
Hmm, savory = veggie burger with mango kethup, sweet = banana peanut butter egg nog soft serve
New York has always been on the top of my list of places I want to visit. I hope someday i can see it too.
As for favorite vegan food… I don’t know where to start. From dal and hummus to oatmeal, raw chocolate macaroons and all things pumpkin.
Your Butternut Squash and Black Bean Burritos. Although the mix has yet to find itself wrapped in a tortilla before I devour it. So yummy. Oh yes and green smoothies!
Pretty much, anything sweet! Tried your macaroons the other day, and they will be a regular in our house from now on. yum!!
I think my favorite vegan food would have to be your 15 minute creamy avocado pasta. Addicting! I love so many of your recipes it’s hard to choose. Of store bought vegan food products I love Vega Complete Whole Food Optimizer in Vanilla Chai. Sounds like a fun visit to NYC. You certainly had great weather.
Peanut Butter on top of ANYTHING!
Difficult choice… but it’ll have to be spicy Indian dahl, with almonds and raisins. Love it!
