I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!

We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

A long-term horror of factory farming and becoming totally lactose intolerant this year have led me to start exploring vegan recipes. (I still eat eggs from my 6 “girls”). Right now I’m mostly exploring Ohsheglows and Chef Chloe, and I’m totally addicted to Chloe’s “Roasted Apple, Butternut Squash, and Caramelized Onion Pizza”. Honestly, I love it with just the onions as topping when I’m feeling lazy. The Garlic White Bean puree is divine and I use the leftover pizza “sauce” as a sandwich spread.
:)
I absolutely love chickpeas! I put them in every savoury dish imaginable. Their slight saltiness complements the roasty-sweetness of spaghetti squash especially well. Thanks for the giveaway!
I love spaghetti squash with tomato sauce and other veggies — so delicious!
My fave vegan food is humous – literally could not live without it! xx
One of my favourite vegan treats are chocolate or cinnamon kale chips…too bad we can’t find them over here in Europe :( !! Enjoy NY!! xxx
Green smoothies all the way!!!
This is a special occasion – I don’t get to participate in giveaways often because of where I live.
My favorite food is oatmeal with ground flax AND fruit AND PB AND goji berries.
P.S. It is so great that you are enjoying NYC! It’s my all-time favorite city – it has pretty much anything one can need or even think of.
Best giveaway EVER? I think so!
My fave vegan food is, well, my fave FOOD: hummus. Any kind. ;P
My favorite vegan food is a toss up between your 15 Min Creamy Avocado Pasta and your Roasted Tomato Basil Pesto Sauce. Both are equally delicious and easy to make!!
Loved NYC when I was there!! Looks like you’re having an amazing trip! Enjoy and thanks for sharing your travels with us…
My new favorite vegan food is almond milk. I recently discovered I’m lactose intolerant and tried almond milk for the first time – it’s tastes SO much better than regular milk! So good in anything from my morning coffee to more elaborate recipes :) I make sure there’s always a carton in my fridge.
The Baja Fiesta from Veggie Grill. If you ever find yourself in the Los Angeles area, please do yourself a solid and find a Veggie Grill. They make incredible vegan food. The Baja Fiesta just happens to be my favorite as it is something I never, ever tire of.
I’d have to go with macaroons – you can’t beat ’em! YUM!!
A big bowl of roasted root vegetables and brussels sprouts mixed with balsamic and nutritional yeast. Mmmm. OR, packaged, I love Mrs. Mays crunch mixes.
My favourite vegan food would have to be buckwheat. I’ve recently eliminated gluten from my diet for health reasons and buckwheat has become a new best friend :P It’s so versatile and perfect for so many recipes – everything from granola to kasha to muffins and baked goods.
Black bean burgers are my favorite ! and oatmeal in the morning for breakfast ! Hope your enjoying NYC ! it’s a fabulous city ! :)
Oh my, I would LOVE to win that sampler! I have always wanted to dine at Pure Food & Wine – their creations look so elegant and creative for an all-raw establishment.
My favorite vegan food is Vietnamese Summer Rolls made with tofu instead of the traditional shrimp or chicken. So fresh and delicious!
Oh, I’m far too new to vegan food to have favourite but I’m definitely keen to try their Cheese-y Quackers. (Thanks for the link, their website is amazing – off to find out whether the shipping rates to Aus are a killer!)
Kale chips for the win!
My favorite vegan food is guacamole!!
Hmm, that’s a toughie! Welp, as a college student on a budget, I don’t really splurge on vegan eats around town, but last week, I treated myself and came across a vegan cannelloni stuffed with cashew cheese, roasted eggplant, and topped with a bechamel sauce. It instantly became my FAVORITE food since becoming vegan. Oh my GOODNESS! Such a nice surprise considering I was never a huge eggplant fan, haha! :)
PS, your pics are lovely! Glad you both had such a great time.
