‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!

“You’re not responsible for being down, but you are responsible for getting up” -Jesse Jackson. I work as a mental health therapist with people living with concurrent disorders. I often share this quote with my clients as a way to help them see how much power they have within. Thank you for sharing your journey with us on this blog, I, like so many others, find it inspiring.
I think the most powerful lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that I cannot control things that haven’t happened yet – I can only control what I’m doing right now, in this moment! Your post about being more present resonated really deeply with me for that reason. I’m someone who is constantly thinking about tomorrow, next week, next year, and practicing yoga has been one of the most important things in helping me to stay present and focused on the moment at hand.
My favourite quote is ‘Always be a first rate version of yourself, rather than a second rate version of somebody else’ from Judy Garland.
P.S. Can’t wait for the new recipe!
“Never frown because you never know who’s falling in love with your smile”
“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”
— Marilyn Monroe
My absolute favortie quote!!
I’ve learned that the inside takes a lot longer to change than the outside.
Awesome giveaway!
“When you help others, your really helping yourself” -Avenue Q
Kind of along the lines of the Extreme Weight Loss quote, I had a goal number I was waiting to see on the scale, one day, after following a restricted diet plan with no exercise, I saw that number. Trouble was my body looked nothing like I wanted it to. I eventually discovered exercise, and most recently weights, and now am near the body I desired and am somewhat surprised to see a larger number on the scale. I learned that the number on the scale has much less to do with the body shape you have.
I’ve learned that feeding my body the best of the best (food, love, fun, etc) makes me feel the best I have in years! Sounds so simple, not always easy to apply…
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Nelson Mandela
Learning to accept my body how it is right now and appreciate what it does for me has been so hard, but I feel successful. I’m not the weight or size I want to be by any means, but I took a vacation and happily laid out in a bathing suit and figured the friends I love don’t love me because of what I look like in a bathing suit and I actually found myself feeling quite confident simply because as I take care of my body it takes care of me and allows me to do yoga, run, snowboard, ride my bike, and shake it on the dance floor!

Favorite quote that helps me along my journey:
“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
-Paulo Coelho from my favorite book, The Alchemist
“Il faut toujours que de la tête au coeur, l’itinéraire soit direct.” (the path between your head and your heart must always be direct.) – Yehudi Menuhin
Spending time stressing about my weight is time not spent enjoying life. Being thinner will not help me be happier, but being healthy will.
The more you stress over weight, the harder it is to lose the weight. Making small changes, while still enjoying life is the best way to go.
“we are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think its forever.”-carl sagan
the most important lesson i’ve learned is to never take anything or anyone for granted. every day i consciously look around and appreciate my life, my body, my health, my family, and my friends.
A lesson I’ve learned along the way is to stop comparing myself to others.
“If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night, I’ll bet they’d live a lot differently.”
“Weekends don’t count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless.”
Bill Watterson from Calvin and Hobbes
For me, the best lesson I learned was everything always gets done. This was really helpful for me in college when I would stress out that I wasn’t going to finish something. But if I looked at the past, I never once didn’t have enough time to finish what I wanted.
