‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Loved your note to the scale so much that I copies it for my scale!! Great postings and messages that seem to be speaking to me!!! Thanks for posting and offering your readers a chance to win your Glo bars!!!
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”- Eleanor Roosevelt My dad used to tell me this when I was down on myself. Its a great reminder to me that I choose happiness and no one can take that from me.
“My body is… the only one I will ever have and I want it to last. My body is made to be kissed, to run, to be done up in jewels, and dressed down in jeans. My body is my own”
“It’s not who you are that holds you back, its who you think you are not”
LOVE THAT QUOTE! It has to be in my top 5!!
Mmm Glo Bars!
Favorite Quote: “Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness.”
My journey continues to always learn more….so far it has led me to an understanding of the relationship between by nutritional and fitness choices and the number I see on the scale. I no longer eat low fat and calorie junk in order to keep that number where I think it should be. I now eat foods that nourish my body and compliment my training goals. I watch that number increase, while my size decreases. It took so long for me to realize it isn’t a battle of mind over wants, or pushing past the pain to burn those extra calories. It’s about balance and being your happiest and most productive when that balance is reached. I now focus on the can do’s that bring happiness to my life instead of can’t haves in order to achieve the unimportant number.
The most important lesson I’ve learned, very recently, is that the number on the scale can’t limit my abilities to experience new things and push myself further than yesterday.
I’ve learned that the people in my life love me for me.
I used to let the number on the scale dictate how I would feel that morning, but at the end of the day, I still had people who loved me no matter what I weighed. I still excersize and follow a vegetarian diet, but I decided to nourish my body, and to not even know how much I weigh; I’ve found life is much more enjoyable that way!
Hi Angela!
This is one of my favorite quotes right now:
“sometimes, you need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be”
I’ve been going through a tough breakup recently and while that is not food related whatsoever, I can’t tell you how much inspiration I’ve gained from reading your blog. I am now turning my sadness into a healing process by setting goals for myself and making conscious decisions to deal with issues such as anxiety. Time to start loving myself for who I am.
(and a lovely package of glo bars in the mail would make my day!)
After some of the trials in life, I play this quote of self-advice in my head for many things: “The trick in life is NOT GETTING WHAT YOU WANT….rather, it’s WANTING it AFTER YOU GET IT.” Just good words of advice for myself…makes me think of what I really want when I desire something. It puts my goals and true needs into perspective.
By the way, I really enjoyed your post about living in the present. I recently began reading The Power of Now, but Eckhart Tolle. Some very good tips to de-clutter the mind and become a more focused and positive person.
Thanks for posting as often as you do! It’s wonderful reading/tips/recipes/healthy lifestyle living! I greatly appreciate it.
It’s ok to be celebrate other people’s successes. Being happy for other people’s successes, in no way detracts from my own success.

“Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Appreciate your friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.”
I’ve learned being skinny does not always equal being healthy.
Enclosing double quotes omitted because of quote overload.
Don’t say, “I can’t!” Say, “I presently struggle with.”
Also, this sounds silly, but your butternut squash mac n cheeze recipe changed our lives. <3
heheh
Victorious living is not an instant arrival. It is the pursuit of one victorious day at a time until the sun sets on enough to begin forming victorious habits.” -Beth Moore
I’ve learned the importance of moving/running because it feels good and it is what your body wants to do, not to run because you feel you need to burn calories to eat x,y,z. That’s why I am so happy to be training for my half marathon with out using any music – time to me with me, in my head, because that’s finally a good place to be.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Nelson Mandela
Gives me chills, every time!
I LOVE this one too. It is actually not Nelson Mandela even though it is often attributted to him. It is Marrianne Williamson from her studies of A Course in Miracles. I point this out because she has more where that came from and you might enjoy her work. Thanks for reminding me of this one!
