‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

“No matter where you go, there you are.”
-Confucius
I’d say the most important thing I’ve learned is forgiveness. As an aspiring model/actress it can be so difficult standing next to a skinnier woman who just ate a Burger and is now nibbling on French fries. As a predominantly raw vegan- even I have my moments of junk food cravings. Not necessarily carcasses and oily starch (never, in fact) but sometimes I do stand in front of the fridge eating almond butter and honey as I ponder what to eat for dinner. Next thing u know the almondbutter and honey mixture is gone and I still haven’t figured out what to eat. What can you do? I suppose I’ve learned that making myself feel bad will only be worse for my soul. The more I allow myself to eat my favorite foods (in moderation-and I’m only craving vegan :) the pressure is off. Its like letting the scary monsters in-house they’re not so scary anymore. Then the fatty foods become less appetizing because im not restricting myself. But If you make a mistake- its ok. You’re human. Forgive yourself and continue with your good food routine. Forgiveness <3
I’d love to try some glo bars!
Something I need to remind myself, but so true — “This too shall pass.”
I’ve never had a Glo Bar before but I looked them up and they look wonderful.
I’ve learned that the people you least expect to help you or be there for you are, and those who have been around forever may not be as welcoming of change. I say this because I am participating in my first fitness competition on Saturday. It’s been one long and tough road. I think sometimes people around can be afraid of the changes they see. Sometimes its because they them selves can’t fathom those changes, but at other times cannot support you but will rather see your downfall with trying to temp with treats etc.
My new community of friends, bloggers etc have rallied around me and have trully made all the difference in the world. IE people like you!
“Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.”

“If you do the things you have to do when you have to do them the day will come when you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them” :)
Here is a quote I like: “Success is not final; failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.” — Sir Winston Churchill
An excerpt from Mary Oliver’s poem, The Summer Day, is one of my favorites:
I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
Surrounding yourself with loving people, and creating a loving lifestyle is vital to a happy, healthy life. Going out of your way to cook for yourself and your family – eating from the Earth – helps you become mindful of all the good things in life. Finding others who feel the same way (Angela, your blog is a blessing) is icing on the cake. Once you are happy, healthy, and feeling love(d), it’s easier to let go of the critic in your brain.
I’ve learned that I’m happier, healthier, and more energetic when I make sleep, water, veggies, and running a priority. I’ve learned that even when I lose speed, I’m excited that I can run for many miles. I’ve learned to accept my size 12 booty, find clothes that make me look great, and focus on being active. :)
A quote that kept me going during my first marathon: “Just keep swimming!” by Dory from Finding Nemo. :D
On my journey, I have learned what a big difference the little things can make, and how insignificant major things are in the end.
Thanks :)
One of my favorite quotes which to apply to many areas of my life, from my weight to caring for a son with special needs
We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. –Joseph Campbell

There is a perfect imperfection that you fail to see while searching for perfection
“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” – Winston Churchill
“There are no coincidences. Only divine order here.” – oprah winfrey, from oprah’s series final!
My favorite quote:
If you always do what you always did you will always get what you always got.
“Life is a balance.”
I went from being a 230-lb, two-pack a day smoker to a 150-lb multiple marathon runner in about two years. I went from spending time with my family and friends, eating delicious (and bad for you!) food to spending all my time on a treadmill or lifting weights, eating food I hated. At both extremes, I was miserable. My life goal is to find the happy medium between the two extremes – a place where I can balance my health, my social life, and my fitness and just BE HAPPY. :-)
I needed to see this post today – after the confusion of my pants fitting, but the number on the scale being 7 lbs higher than Friday (how is this possible!?)- and it helped.
I continually have to tell myself that being anxious about something that might happen isn’t helpful. I do what I can to prepare and prevent and then weather the storm…
An important lesson that I’ve learned is that ultimately, anything you’re doing for the approval/validation/needs/wants of others is not nearly as paramount as that which you do for your own needs/fulfillment/joy. It is OKAY to be selfish in this way!
I’ve learned that just because my body image issues are not 100% resolved, I have come a long way and I should be proud of myself.
My grandma would always tell me “Don’t worry – everything will come out in the wash”. Whenever I’m having a bad day or trying to make a tough decision, I remember her saying that to me in her confident way that made me feel like yes, everything will eventually be okay.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned in my journey is that your happiness is number one. It means more than money, prestige, stability, etc. Find your happiness and everything else will take care of itself.
