Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.

I would tell my younger self to not sweat the small stuff. Enjoy life.
Oh, younger self, you really should like yourself a lot more! Stop beating yourself up over things you can’t change or things that aren’t in your control. Oh, and hug your parents and grandparents more…you’ll make their day, and you’ll never look back and regret those hugs.
I would tell my younger self not to let perfection be the enemy of greatness
Some advice I wish I could have given my younger self…
Slow down! This includes driving, drinking, boys, eating, and growing up.
Gosh, I think about this all the time. I would tell my younger self to stay in the moment and not to rush things. I’d also tell her that everything happens for a reason and to SMILE more, it really does make a difference!
I also tweeted the contest out!
I pinned the ratatouille veggie recipe!
Tori, you are beautiful and young! Enjoy yourself and your body. Be kind to yourself.
Oh, I have so much advice I need to give my younger self…but the biggest things would be these:
– never stop exercising (anything! even, just walking each day). because if you don’t, it catches up with you!
– you should definitely start juicing, go veg, and eat more greens and veggies WAY earlier in life!
– just breathe….
– simplify, simplify, simplify
– you are amazing in your own way, and it will take you a while to figure out what your own blend of awesomeness is. But it’s in there. You just have to dig deep and find it. And when you do, hang on to it and don’t ever let anyone else make you second-guess it.
I would tell myself two things “Relax, you’re perfect” and second; “Be here now. Don’t wait for your life to begin. Live it now.”
I tweeted!
I would say, “Don’t waste your time trying to be someone you’re not.” And then I would add, “It get’s better.” It really does.
Living with freedom is better than having everything in your control.
I would tell myself the guy I think is all that really isn’t nor are the girls that exclude you from their lunch table. In 5 years or less you won’t remember their names.
I would tell my younger self that eating REAL whole plant-based foods would allow me to nourish my body and show it the love it deserves! Following the Atkins diet in the 70’s would NEVER give me the health that I was seeking! Fortunately I found blogs like ohsheglows when I was 48 and now at age 52, I am rocking a healthy, happy body!!!!
I’d definitely tell my younger self that curves are beautiful. Ditch the diets, flaunt what you’ve got, and love your body. You’re gorgeous!
I would tell my younger self to treasure the time spent with loved ones. They won’t be around forever and you’ll regret lost time when they’re gone!
I would tell my younger self not to try and control the outcome of everything. There is a reason we make mistakes and it’s important to go with the flow.
I would tell my 16 year old self not to throw away advice that’s given. As I get older I realize that sisters do become friends, what people think doesn’t matter as much as what I think, and hard work will get you farther than wishful thinking.
I would tell my younger self to not waste so much time constantly searching for Mr. Right because your own Prince Charming will end up finding you on his own. That and to start putting money into a Roth IRA as soon as I get out of college.
