Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!
About the Twister Jar: “Blendtec’s newest innovation, the Twister Jar, is designed to blend your thickest recipes such as: Nut Butters, Hummus, Baby Food, Dips, Thick Shakes, Dressings and more! Best of all, it’s compatible with all Blendtec Home Blenders.”

Advice for my younger self..Figure out what makes you happy and do that for the rest of your life, because money wont matter if you are not having any fun:)
I would tell my 16 self to pay more attention to school than your social life. While I had fun, I regret it for than anything now.
I would tell my younger self not to try to impress other people so much.
Tweeted! Thanks dear!
I would tell myself not to worry so much about what I look like…looking back, I can see that I never realized how un-fat and beautiful I was. Never had a clue.
Thanks!
I would tell my 16 year old self not to worry about so many little things and to just enjoy every moment life brings
I would tell my sixteen year old self that boys are simply that… boys! They really aren’t worth all the fret and worry. When you find the one that treats you like a lady and loves you for who you really are, that’s the one for you. :)
Rachel, be your own YOU! Don’t do things just because it’s what is expected by everybody else. Find YOU. Be YOU. And don’t be afraid to explore and dream BIG!
Do ONE thing every day your future self will Thank You for.

love your recipes!
I would tell myself that putting eyeliner on your eyebrows was unnecessary and, frankly, a little scary.
I would tell myself to lighten up and enjoy each day! Let life unfold and roll with it as it happens.
Advice to my younger self – its ok to be you. its ok to be weird. in the end, in the adult world, we all melt together and nobody remembers you as the girl with the weird haircut. So be you.
I would tell my 16 year old self to laugh things off more instead of dwelling on mistakes
The advice id give myself is just to have a little bit more confidence in myself and to try lots of things to find what im good at. I wasted too many years sitting on my booty bc i didnt know how and was scared to start anywhere but now ive found my loves as a fitness instructor and PT and found limitless joy. :-)
I would tell myself that life gets better every year. There are ups and downs, but both are necessary and make everything more interesting. The adversity makes you stronger.
Love your blog! If I could go back and give my younger self one piece of advice it would be that beauty really does lie within, it is so much less external and physical then I thought as a teenager. The most beautiful people I know are those that are kind and selfless and not necessarily the people who are the most fashionable or trendy.
I would tell my 16 year old self to enjoy being 16. Life happens fast :)
