Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

I would encourage my younger self to be persistent and brave. Never give up on your goals – whether they be academic, or personal. And have the courage to make connections with people and try new things. Scary as it may be, it will make you much happier as an adult.
I also re-pinned a recipe!
Hmm… I would tell myself to please, please, please try to worry less! Though I’m still working on that one…
and just tweeted!
I tweeted the contest on Twitter at @JamieLiberio.
I also Pinned and have made many of the recipes on your blog :) Thank you for such healthy, delicious, simple recipes.
I would tell myself not to worry about the future.. everything will work out in the end. God is in control..let him be in control.
What a fabulous give away! There is so much I would tell my younger self! :) I guess the top ones are: ignore all of the “should”s in life and don’t believe everything you think.
I would tell myself to make sure to cherish and maintain the friendships you have because true friends are hard to find in life.
I’m still fairly young, but if I could advise my younger self it would be to stick with your dreams. I am a dancer living in Seattle, and while I might never make it big, I’m making it work and that’s all I need. I remember all the times I’ve wanted to give up on my art and myself, and I’m so grateful that I stuck it out.
Mothers have spies everywhere, so watch yourself
I would tell myself to do what you want to do and not worry about others! Enjoy the things you’re good at, practice the things you want to get better at and don’t waste time doing things to make other people happy. Find good people to support you!

Learn to pluck your eyebrows!
Make nutritious eating choices while you’re young. It may be too late by the time you get older.
Erin, don’t ever rely on other people to make you happy. You must first and foremost be happy with yourself.

Chris, you ARE enough. Walk away from the naysayers, the people that put you down. Don’t pay them any mind. They are NOT worth getting upset and mad over. YOU ARE ENOUGH. In fact, you are more than enough. xo
I would tell my 18 year old self I don’t need to eat for two, so I wouldn’t have had 78 pounds to lose after my six children were all born. It was so hard to lose!!
I would tell myself not to worry so much about being lonely. To be myself, and my true friends would “show” themselves.
