Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

I would tell her to eat more! I might be taller then :)
I tweeted! Althought I wish no more people knew about this to increase my chances! My Black and Decker is about to die… I need this one! :)
I would tell myself that I had plenty of time for relationships, and I shouldn’t rush things. And I would tell myself to spend more time with my family =)
I pinned your Baked Apples Stuffed with Cinnamon Date Pecan Oatmeal. My Pinterest board is already full of your recipes!
Advice to self: just keep going, you’ll get there :)
I would tell my younger self to just be patient and enjoy being a kid, don’t grow up too fast. I would give anything to go back to those carefree days of coloring, watching cartoons and playing the days away. Oh to be young again…
Cheers,
~tl
Would love to win this! Tweeted and fingers crossed!
Dear Young Danielle,
Relax. Cut loose. Don’t worry. Be confident. Lose the fear. Think for yourself. You’re beautiful. Be yourself and stand up for yourself.
I would tell myself to BE NICE! In a quest to be one of the “cool kids”, there are certianly things that I have said about and done to others that I regret.
I would tell myself that if it won’t matter in a year, it probably doesn’t matter at all. It’s too easy to get caught in the stressful details of life and lose the big picture.
I tweeted!
I tweeted your giveaway on Twitter!
I would tell my younger self not to waste time chasing happiness in the things around me. The only real happiness comes from understanding who you are and loving that person.
I would tell my younger self to not be in such a big hurry to grow up!
I would tell myself to do everything the same way because you’ll be fine and you’ve learned too much to do anything differently.
This is a great giveaway. I need a blender so bad!
I would tell my younger self to have some self esteem. Things will get better, you are smart enough to do what you want with your life, and strong enough to stand up for yourself and not keep getting involved in the wrong relationships. It took until my 30’s to come to this realization and has changed my life dramatically for the better.
Since it is Halloween…….Advice to my younger self….don’t hide all of you Halloween candy under the couch, out of sight from parents and siblings, so that I could load up anytime I wanted. It took a long time to break the habit of hiding candy. :/
I would definitely tell myself not to be so hard on myself- I had a really bad relationship with food and would constantly feel bad about myself for not eating healthy. I would really beat myself up. I would also tell myself that being happy on the inside is much more important than what you look like from the outside. I was always worried about the number on the scale and about what my physical appearance looked like, and sacrificed my happiness. Now it’s about feeling great from the inside out! Glowing from the inside out :) As soon as I felt better from the inside and forgot about what I looked like from the outside, 30 pounds fell off so easily in no time (I had struggled to lose the weight for 3 years and not a pound came off and I was miserable!!). So now I use yoga and meditation to keep myself glowing :)
Thank you
I would tell myself if you feel like crying don’t hold it in–really it goes for any emotion. Don’t bottle up your feelings, life is easier that way.
I would tell my younger self to not be in such a hurry to grow up, rather enjoy the seasons of life I’m experiencing.
