Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

I would tell my 16 year old self to ignore the term “low carb”
I would advise my younger self to never ever give up on your dreams. There are people in your life that are going to put you down, and they are going to tell you that your dream is ludacris and to high! But you just keep your chin up and believe in yourself. You will help be a change in the world someday! :)
I would tell myself that I would regret all the impulse shopping I did in my 20’s.
I would tell myself to pay more attention in school. Education is key!!
I would tell my younger self to stop trying to live up to all the expectations of my parents and to go out a have some fun.
Francine,
You height is a gift stand tall. Love yourself first so you can love others. Be forgiving of your mistakes because they help you learn and grow. Life for each day, laugh as much as you can, love unconditionally and find the positive in every situation.
My advise for my younger self – life is all about choices. Make the choices that lead you to your happiness – not someone else’s.
I would tell myself to enjoy the moment and not to worry about small things
I would tell my younger self to hand my fears and anxiety to god.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
I would tell myself to be open with people about how I feel! So often I feel like we are almost afraid to tell someone how much we appreciate them or how much we care… honestly what’s the worst that’s going to happen??
and I pinned your Superbowl Black Bean chili.. I’ve been craving chili with this cold rainy weather!!
To my younger self: Life’s going to throw you a curve and it will be the fight of your life, but you will find strength you never knew you had and make it through.
Happy anniversary of your blog Angela! I’m so glad I found it )
I also tweeted the giveaway!
I’d tell my younger self to stop being so afraid…of what may happen if you do xyz, of what other people think of you, of what the consequences may be of every little thing you do…and just live your life and be yourself!
I would tell my 16 year old self that high school is not forever and if you just keep being honest and true to yourself things will fall into place someday!
Recipe pinned. :)
I would tell my younger self to have a better attitude. I really had a bad attitude about so many things when I was younger.
I would give advice to my younger high school graduate self. Live your life and make the choices that are right for you at that point and no one else. You may have a few hiccups or get lost along the way but this is your life, your only one life. Listen to the advice but go accordingly to what matters most to you and you will have an extraordinary life.
I tweeted as well!
I would tell myself to be gentle, don’t be so hard on yourself. You are the person you were made to be. Now, I would love the blender please…pretty please…:)
Don’t take out those student loans!
Great giveaway idea! I would tell my younger self to stop focusing on what others think of me. All that matters is what I think of me, and while it seems so difficult at 16 to not worry about others’ judgement of me, it really doesn’t matter!
