A Planner’s Dream

January 13, 2009

It arrived last night.

The Voice Recorder! :D

I was sooo excited. I tested it out immediately and left myself some creepy/funny messages and played it back to Eric. He won’t admit it but I made him giggle. :D

I started off by saying, in a serious voice,

“Angela here. It was a long and cold night…….*long pause*…. My thoughts drifted to my blog and what I would post in tomorrow morning’s entry. I pause as I ponder to myself….”

Then you just hear Eric making fun of me in the background and then I start laughing and snort uncomtrollably.

No I am not uploading this one to the website! lol.

So naturally, I was super excited when I brought my new voice recorder with me on the treadmill this morning! Every time a new idea or thought crept into my mind, I recorded it (albeit in a winded voice!).

I recorded 12 things just on the treadmill! LOL

The bad thing? I injured myself this morning. :( I had a slight nagging pain after doing either my yoga or 30-day shred on the weekend, and I didn’t listen to my body this morning. I thought I would be fine so I ran. BIG MISTAKE. Now I have an even worse pain (upper, inner thigh- almost the crotch/butt area if you can believe it) and I can barely walk! I am hobbling along. NOT good. I will not be running until this is healed. :(

Please I urge you- do not run (or exercise) when you have even a bit of pain– it’s not worth it! I will be doing light stretching until I feel better to run again….*sigh.

My workout:

  • 3 mile tempo run, 6.5-7.0 mph, incline 3%
  • Duration: 29 mins.
  • Max heart rate: 172 bpm (88% of max)
  • Avg Heart rate: 158 bpm (81% of max)
  • Feel the burn: 253 kcals

It was not a fun workout– by the end I was in pain and had to stop!

My breakfast:

Health Valley’s Spelt cereal, Almond Breeze, and toast with strawberry jam and Maranatha’s Almond butter (raw) :) yum!!

I hope you feel better!

Today when I was on the spin bike, I thought of a really brilliant dessert idea and I wished so badly that I had a voice recorder so I could remember it!

I think your voice recorder idea is brilliant! I hope you don’t mind it I copy cat you! Like you, I think of awesome things while running and forget most of it once I’m off. Another thing I do is remember “things to do” while running. In the past, I’ve used letters of the alphabit to remind me what to do when I’m done running. Example….D…G…K….this would stand for pull something out of the freezer for Dinner, put gum wrapper in the Garbage and bring a new Kleenex box downstaris. I think a recorder would be much more efficient! :)

hi beauty!

you are way too cute.
enjoy the recorder.

oh my. i know exactly how you feel.
i had the same feeling around end of oct. ( it came out of nowhere!!!!!) – ran on it once after and had to go to physio + not run for 6-8 weeks!!!!!
i agree- pain = something is wrong = do not run!
i learned SO much doing that time, and actually REALLY got into Bikram yoga during the time. ( i just started running slowly a few weeks ago)

so it was such a blessing!
now i am slowly able to run again + still practice.

all the best girl.
listen to your bod!

OMG Angela!!!! Your injury sounds exactly like mine. I am also a runner and was training for a half. Four weeks ago on my 13 miler I injured myself. Well, it turned out to be a pelvic stress fracture and I was on crutches for 3 weeks and just got clearance to swim. I will not be running for at least another month. The thing is that the pain is EXACTLY where you are describing yours is. I was also unable to walk after it happened or put any weight on the bad leg. I hope you are okay and it doesn’t turn out to be a stress fracture. It is no fun not being able to run although I am glad that I can at least swim for exercise instead of just sitting around resting.
Take care of yourself!!

Btw, I love your blog and have been reading since it’s inception. I’ve commented once or twice before, but just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your blog :-)

Ugh! I am sorry to hear about your injury. Last night I was blogging about the same thing. It can be so hard NOT to run when you know you shouldn’t. Cool idea about the voice recorder!
