Happy DECEMBURRRRRR!
And quite chilly this morning too.
Well, November ended with a BANG! And December started with a BANG!
Let me explain…
Yesterday, I was on Craigslist looking for a Christmas gift for Eric. And guess what I came across? A beautiful couch- for a crazy good price. I immediately emailed the seller and asked if we could take a look at it. I figured that it would be gone already because good deals sell so fast on Craigslist, especially in Toronto!
It was a dark brown sectional couch with a chaise (always wanted one!) and it was only a few months old and in mint condition. The owner was selling it because they were moving and it didn’t fit in their new condo (it is a BIG couch!).
Eric stopped by on his way home from work and…
We bought our very first couch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every couch we have had up to this point has been a hand me down which is absolutely awesome, but we have secretly been longing for a couch that fit our new family room. After looking at prices earlier this year, we knew we couldn’t afford one.
He was shocked that it wasn’t gone already. He had to drive all the way to his brother’s to pick up a van, then drive back and put 1 part of the couch in the van, then drop it off, and then drive all the way back to Toronto to pick up the rest!!! He didn’t get home until about 11:30 last night. Poor guy!!!! I was at home waiting anxiously for it to arrive. Luckily, S & B kept me company. ;)

and will be great for entertaining!
…it is like brand new to us and our wallets are very happy. We figured that THREE lucky friends can crash on this couch at once! hahaha. ;) We are still university students at heart…
We will probably end up buying most of our furniture on Craigslist. You really can’t go wrong, 1) You save huge, and 2) You are recycling!! They have lots of cool antique pieces on Craigslist. Yes, there is a lot of crap to sift through, but it is so worth it. I also check out the FREE page a lot too! You’d be surprised how many people give away amazing things because they are in a rush.
The only thing we are not sure of is where to put our other brown couch. Right now it is here:
and it looks kind of odd…but we were thinking of keeping it around for our Christmas party.

So we aren’t really sure what to do with it! Ideas????
I also want to find a coffee table off Craigslist as I don’t really like the one that is there now.
And why did Decemburrr start with a bang?
We have roofers here this morning and it sounds like an EARTHQUAKE in this house today! I swear they are going to fall through the roof on me. I woke up at 6am to BANG, BANG, BANG!!! I hit my alarm but it didn’t stop!

I would probably sell or donate the couch if I couldn’t find a good place for it.
I love the seamist color.
Do you have another room you could put it in? OR possibly move the tree and have the other couch across from the new one?
I love sectionals – we have one very similar, but not as big.
I would pick the Ocean color – blues relax me.
I think that you should donate your couch. At least in the US The Salvation Army will come and pick it up for you. It would make someone really happy. If I were to win the yoga mat, I would pick the Violet one. I love that color. I love Bikram Yoga, and have been jonesing for a new mat. Congratulations on your new couch. It looks great.

Do you have a basement? You could put it down here, or have a bonfire with friends and burn it if you don’t want it anymore :)
Keep the couch in the room for the party, then sell/donate it, unless you have a basement… that’s where all of the stuff I don’t know what to do with goes! Although then you’d just end up with a room full of “stuff” haha. Yeah I’d say sell/donate :)
Oh yeah, and the seamist is an absolutely beautiful color. I currently have a red mat with koi on it, and I would love a more calming color.

I like the infinity color. I would never really think to get a black yoga mat (I love bright colors), but I loved the description of it! It was the “potential of endless possibilities” that got me.
Love the now couch! I agree with Angela D. that you should switch the couch and the Christmas tree. That way you’d have more of a sitting area for the party, and the tree would look great in front of the glass doors.
As for the yoga mat, I would choose violet – its so pretty and I’m just drawn to it for some reason! Thanks for the awesome give-away.

I would love an orange mat. I signed up for yoga and pilates and I am currently using my old, old mat and would love to try a new one:) PICK ME!!!!

Do you have an extra room? My husband likes to play video game and we are trying to make this extra room his entertainment room where he can play games without any interruptions. If the couch turns into a bed, the entertainment room could also become a guest room.
As for the color of yoga mat, I want Solar! Love the color~!
I think you should move the couch to another room in the house. I would pick the Ocean mat if I won because I love Blue!
Now that you have a beautiful new couch, I think you should donate your old one. I’ve not had the best luck with Craigslist, but like donating to Good Will and getting the tax write off. I would love a new yoga mat, Violet is my favorite.
I would sell your couch on Craigslist. Maybe someone can benefit from a good deal like you guys did! And I would want the violet yoga mat!
How big is your bedroom or the guest room? I know lots of people that make a little “sitting area” in a bedroom…maybe you could put it in there? Otherwise, sell it!
If I really couldn’t find a place for the couch, I would donate it! As for the mat, the blue color looks beautiful! A new yoga mat is on my X-mas wishlist–hope you pick me! :)

Love the couch! I would put your old one in an entirely different room. I love couches in bedrooms — a blanket and lamp make for a perfect reading space.
As for the yoga mat, I would have to choose black. My lighter mats always get dirty even when I clean them off after each practice. Black might solve all of my problems :)
