Good morning!
Last night the contestants of Project Food Blog received some startling news that I thought I would fill you in on.
Foodbuzz has granted Project Food Blog contestants a 1-week extension for the video because there were music copyright issues with some videos that were submitted. We were notified of this last night and the video was originally due November 7th (tomorrow). Now the videos are not due until November 14th and the voting will not commence until November 15th.
Despite the extension, I can assure you I will be posting my video by tomorrow at 6pm EST, as originally planned! I have worked my butt off for two weeks on this video and I fully intend on posting it when it was originally due. Keep your eyes peeled for my video late tomorrow afternoon. I’m pumped!
I thought I would share with you one of my favourite quotes this morning. :)
I have this up on my wall and I read it over when I need a boost and a reminder of what is truly important in life. As nerdy as this sounds, several parts of this quote actually bring tears to my eyes. I hope you will enjoy it too. There are also plenty of videos on You Tube of this quote if you are interested.
"Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you. Sing. Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours. Floss. Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you succeed in doing this, tell me how. Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements. Stretch. Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium. Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone. Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t
congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.Enjoy your body, use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own..Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room. Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them. Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly. Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good. Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future. Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young."
— Baz Luhrmann
Never forget, you hold the key to your happiness!
What parts of this quote really speak to you?
“Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.”
I LOVE this Angela! This totally speaks to me..as a graduate in one month, i’m scared, excited, anxious and nervous..and this just puts things into perspective ;) Thanks for sharing!
I’ve only ever heard one small part of that quote. I never knew it was so long…and fabulous! I really like the part of not worrying about the future. I think I spend too much time thinking about the future and wondering if it will be what I wish/hope. I have to remember that all I can do is make the most of each day and my future will turn out just as it should.
I love the quote. It inspires me to live each day to the fullest and stop worrying so much about the little things.
great post! can’t wait for the video!
I love this, it’s one of my absolute favorites! (so is Desiderata) It gets played on the radio here each graduation season and I cry each time I hear it I love it so much!
I am in love with that quote! I was feeling really down on myself today but now I realize that I have everything to look forward to…thanks for the boost!
Awww, I remember when this was played on the radio as a hit single! I loved it, even if I didn’t really take it to heart (hey, I was like 12 at the time!)
Thank you for sharing. Reading this is just what I needed right now. I’m going to print this out to read when I need a lift. I love these two parts:
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.
I love that quote thank you :). I was definitely just crying at my dining room table reading it. I love the parts about being nice to your siblings and getting to know your parents. Family is so important and I am so close with my brothers there is nothing like knowing you have people you can count on no matter what. I just hope I can teach my daughter all the things in this quote. She will have an amazing life if I can. Thanks again for sharing! Jp
Thanks for reminding me of that quote. I haven’t heard the song in ages but I love it! I really love the part “if you succeed in doing this, tell me how”. Its so true that we can know what’s right or best but figuring out how to actually do it is not so easy. Keep up the beautiful posts!
this is such a beautiful, inspirational quote! it seriously gave me the shivers.
so many parts of this speak to me, like doing one thing every day that scares me… i really see that as living life to the fullest. or not comparing myself to other people, or just enjoying my own body and realizing there is so much more to life than how i look. i also love that one short word “Stretch” because lately I’ve realized how much good stretching does for my body – mentally, physically, emotionally… it has helped my stress/anxiety sooo much! thanks for sharing this & good luck with project food blog!
the part about jealousy – sometimes you’re ahead and sometimes you’re behind, but it’s a long race and it’s with yourself.
I’ve been struggling with some jealousy lately and this was what i needed!
