I’m bursting with joy to tell you that our baby girl, Adriana, arrived Sunday September 21st at 1:34pm, weighing 7 pounds and 20 inches in length. She decided to arrive 1 day before her due date – fooling her mama entirely because by that point I was convinced she was coming a week late. Not long after I published my 39 week post on Saturday, I started going into early labour (I just didn’t know that’s what it was at the time!).
I never knew life could be so crazy happy (or crazy challenging, for that matter). It’s like we’ve known her all our lives. I’m not normally a person who relaxes a great deal, but she’s shown me how to live in the moment and enjoy the right now. I feel like my life has a new sense of meaning and purpose and I’m really excited to get to know her a bit more every day. One thing is for sure, she has a great dad and looks so much like him. I can’t get over the hilarious facial expressions she makes. We have laughed so much in the 4 short days we’ve known her.
Ok, Adriana says it’s feeding time once again! Back to it.
ps – I’m thinking about sharing our birth story on here, so let me know if that is something you’d be interested in.
Thank you for all your love and support!!

I am incredibly overcome with happiness for you both and your new little one. She looks so healthy and absolutely glows. Seeing these two photos… so sweet. Thank you for sharing your pregnancy journey with us. I, for one, would love to hear her birth story :) Congratulations again, and many blessings to your family.
P.S. please let us know how Sketchie reacts to Adriana
Thank you Sonia!
Sketchie was pretty terrified of her at first. Heh. He kept his distance and was on edge when she’d cry. But he seems to be warming up to her the past couple days as he’s now always in the same room as us and sleeps in the room again. But not sure after last night as we only slept 3 hours and he’s drained today, hah. I’m sure it’ll take time!
I just love Sonia’s comment and your response! I’ve been a long-time reader and it really brightened my day to see that photo of you and Adriana in your instagram feed. It’s amazing how much love can be conveyed through a photograph. There’s no way Sketchie will be able to resist falling in love with Adriana for long!
Hi! In my experience, (I have 6 animals at home, all adopted at different times) animal adjustment is faster when you help the animal along with a bit of psychology lol. I try to make my animals feel really rewarded each time they make a small step towards accepting the new change or addition to the family. They don’t know what the small human or other animal is – to them it’s just a threat, so if you’re there as the mommy to exaggerate with the “it’s okay!” and “gooddddd kitty” in my experience the adjustment period shortens, as the animal feels more comfortable and like his needs will still be met even though there’s a new attention-seeking creature in the house. He’s used to getting all the love for himself :)
Dear Glowing Family, congratulations on your newest heaven-sent member! Adriana looks uncannily like her father. So happy for you all. Such a kick to read that hours after you posted your 39 weeks story that pre-labour began–it is hard to know what it is the first time. If you are nursing I hope you find some nursing tops asap, and that the first-timer process goes smoothly for you. La Leche League’s forum got me through some rough first months of nursing, and the LLLadies there are tops! KellyMom is also an indispensable source of reassurance (Got Milk? and other top posts). Hope when things settle down you share what you want to share. :) Congratulations again.
I would LOVE to hear your birth story! Congratulations, she’s beautiful! Glad you’re all happy and healthy. (:

Hi Angela, I’ve been following your blog for about a year and never commented before, but I just felt compelled to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS on having your beautiful baby girl! She’s a stunner, and Adriana is such a gorgeous name :) You and Eric are going to be awesome parents. Good luck, and much love from the UK :D xx
Congratulations guys! She is so beautiful and you look like such a happy family. Would love to heae your birth story, I’m expecting my third but still cant get enough of that stuff! :)
Congratulations and welcome, beautiful little Adriana! I LOVE the name!!!
I have been following your blog and especially your baby posts from Austria – and love(d) every bit of it.
Please do share your birth story – but first, take some rest and settle into your new life. As a mom of two I know this may take some time. Just in case it’s not all going as smoothly as you wished or imagined: You are not alone :) Becoming a mum is a huge change in a woman’s life. So many new things to learn, so many new responsibilities and tasks, those intense hormonal changes…it can be overwhelming. My only advice: Be kind with yourself and don’t let anything or anyone mess with your instincts – you are Adriana’s mom and YOU are the one who knows best :)
Lots and lots of love and all best wishes!!

Dear Angela,
Congratulation on the birth of your precious little bundle! I wish you and your family all the happiness in the world.
We have recently (2 month) started using your cookbook as a base for our home cooking. My husband who until now firmly believed he could not go a day without meat, recently declared: “Who would have thought that a book could bring so much joy to our life.”
Thank you for the delicious recipes and for helping me stir my husband towards healthier eating habits. Looking forward to your posts:)
That’s so sweet, thank you so much for your support!
Congratulations!!! Love her name and she is so beautiful! Would love to hear your birth story – of course!
I would love to hear your birth story, Ange (and see more pics!)! I think all women should share their amazing story. I am so happy for you and Eric! She is so stinking cute!!!!!!!!
What a great picture of the three of you! xo
Congratulations! I would love to hear how Adriana came into the world! I After my daughter was born, I wanted to tell everyone my birth story, even if they didn’t want to hear it..lol.. (my single brothers.) I would be thrilled to hear about yours!
Congratulations! She is too beautiful for words. Would love to hear your birth story! Thrilled for you and Eric. Sleep deprivation with a newborn is no joke, but it is only temporary (thank God). Wishing you and your little family all the best.
Another vote for the birth story of baby Adriana! She’s absolutely adorable–I can see why you’re so thrilled with her arrival! Congrats to all of you :)
