Stick To The Basics

June 2, 2009

Sometimes the most simple dinners are truly the best dinners…

IMG_2546

Tonight I made Vegetable whole wheat spaghetti and boy was it delicious!

The products included Eden Organic Salt-Free Pasta Sauce, PC Frozen Veggie mix, and PC Whole Wheat Spaghetti:

It was a lovely meal!

I had a side of a PC flatbread bun (toasted) with 1/2 an avocado:

YUM

The whole she-bang:

Dessert was one of these addicting lil guys! :D

Mmmm…nothing beats it! :D

fitness My workout today was quick and to the point! I was super busy today so I had to be efficient!

The workout:

  • Duration: 35 mins
  • Treadmill hill walking, speed 4.0 mph incline 15%
  • Max heart rate: 169 bpm
  • Avg heart rate: 157 bpm
  • Distance: 2.3 miles approx.

I was prepping for my interview today so my mind was occupied. :)

No strength today- I am resting my muscles! :)

You know what’s kinda sad? I am MISSING the BBBC! *sniff, sniff… :(

freeforall 1. RE: Oh She Glows new logo!

I’ve had a couple questions about the logo, so I wanted to do a quick poll on it!

poll by twiigs.com

I thought Zesty’s idea of the ‘G’ coming through from the O and the S was pretty cool! I didn’t even see it myself at first glance, but Eric saw it right away! Maybe it is a guy thing! :) I was like ‘ohhhhhh there’s the G!!!"’ lol.

Ok, go back and take a look at it- Do you see the lowercase G now? :D

2. Don’t forget to enter my Hip T contest! It ends tomorrow!

3. If you participated in the BBBC and you want a chance to win the Glo Bakery Prize package, please email me your results! ohsheglows at gmail.com

4. Are you looking for a quick way to print my recipes? Keep your eyes peeled for a new easy PRINT button courtesy of Eric (resident techie genius!!). He has been hard at work for a couple of nights getting this put together! I can’t wait to try this bad boy out! :D

5. I am hoping to be able to sell my Glo Bakery goodies at the upcoming race on June 14th. The only snag? A hefty vendor fee! :( I will keep you updated on the situation! I have decided that all of my profits will go to my charity for the Canadian Cancer Society- woot woot! I just hope I don’t have to pay a large fee because that money could be going to the charity, ya know? So if I can’t get the fee reduced I won’t be able to participate. :( I may look into simply donating some goods for the runner’s bags, but I will have to see. I’m hoping for good news tomorrow…

6. My media interview today went well! I hope to be able to show you something quite exciting IN PRINT this November 2009! :)

7. Shop 4 A Cause is scheduled for Thursday June 11th, 2009! mark your calendars!

8. Thank you for all of your amazing and thoughtful comments in today’s hot topic post!

Ok, I am off to work on my OSG and GB FLYERs- man it never ends! :) Eric and I are also going to squeeze in a walk- it’s beautiful out.

Canada’s Next Top Model is on TV tonight! Can’t miss that… haha. My weekly guilty pleasure…

Have a lovely evening whatever you may be doing- ENJOY IT! :)

Honestly, it took me a few tries to get to the G… but now I heart the logo soooo much lol

Your dinner looks so fabulous… like a guilty pleasure+hard to make but neither one of those things! I love your recipes.

I’m making those bars as soon as I run out of my prepacked ones!

I had to study it for a little bit to see the “g”, I was looking for a capital letter “G” at first so I think that’s what threw me off.

I have to agree with you-simple meals often turn into the best dinners. I often get overwhelemd by wanting to creating the most unique and extravagant things, and then when I do make something simple, I realize how much I truly enjoy the simplicity of food. There is definitly beauty in simplicity!

Hope you had a wonderful day!

Such a great, healthy dinner. Sometimes the simplest dinner can be the most delicious!

Wow, that G was lost to me! Haha, I think I see it now!

That’s great news about the printing recipes! I can’t wait for that feature! :)

OOOH LOL its a LOWER CASE g :) Now I see it. I could never see those 3D pictures though, so I’m not a great one to ask! I just made the nastiest looking GM for dessert, but its SO GOOD! Spinach, strawberries, and peaches… kind of the color of baby spew :)

THat dinner certainly does look amazing, yet so simple :) I need to try avocado soon, it makes me nervous for some reason!?

I love the new logo, it took me a minute, but I definitely see all three letters!

Great dinner! It’s always a good idea to have red sauce in the pantry. I was going to use it tonight but then realized I didn’t have any. :-(

The G is hard to see unless you think about it.

Great looking dinner and it sounds like you had a wonderfully productive day. I love that you still managed to fit in a tough workout – so impressive!

I took your advice about adding more calories earlier in the day and I definitely noticed a difference tonight. I was able to take my time making dinner without feeling like I HAD to snack on something right away. Thanks so much for the tips!!

I agree simple dinners are the best. I rarely make an elaborate dinner..simple is the way to go!! Do you always eat after you work-out? I’m not always necessarily hungry after my workouts but I always feel a bit empty so I usually eat and then for some reason I get hungry after I eat. Does this ever happen to you??

Hey Angela! I was just wondering if you have ever tried making your own almond or other “nutmilk” (like hazelnut etc.). I wanted to let you know in case you had never done it that it’s really simple! I usually do about 1 cup raw soaked almonds(they plump up and go from 75%fat and 25%protein to the other way around…more importantly makes it really yummy!!) and 3 cups of water. Then blend away and strain the almond particles out really well. I have also made it without soaking the almonds and it turns out very well anyway. Sometimes I sweeten it even more with a little vanilla extract or almond axtract.

Then, I put it in a container and refrigerate it… I use it in my daily GM’s =) It’s less expensive than buying the carton…although sometimes I still buy a backup carton in case I don’t have time to make this milk.

Have a great day!

Mmm that dinner looks good! My lunch today was half of a mashed avocado, half of a sliced tomato, and some goat cheese on Trader Joe’s sprouted protein bread. Avocado adds SUCH an indulgent flair to a sandwich!

I had a hard time seeing the G in your logo initially. Then once I realized there was supposed to be a G, I think I see it – and I’m guessing it’s lowercase? Even if that’s right, the G isn’t very obviously a G and I feel like unless you’re expecting it to be there, or looking for it, you may not be able to see it right away (unless you are male apparently). Anyway, just my thoughts.

Mmmm all those veggies look delicious!

I didn’t see the G until I went back to look a second time…but that’s pretty clever.

Hi Angela, i’m very fascinated with the green monster and am thinking of trying to make some… however, i notice that all of you have used organic spinach, as i am not residing in states, organic spinach are highly expensive, will it be the same if i were to use normal spinach? and as there are several types of spinach, the chinese kind and the kind that you have in the west, will it make a difference or will it matter? sorry about my questions, it’s just that i am not in the your region… thanks and i love your blog, great blog! thanks again!

I also didn’t see the G initially, but after scrutunizing the logo for a bit, I did realize that it was there and lowercase. Maybe doing something with the colors would help it be more visible?
