Just wanted to do a quick poll about who else felt the earthquake not too long ago?
Leave a comment below with your location if you felt it…I have heard that it was also felt in NY, Vermont, Pittsburg, etc.
My house was shaking like crazy and I thought someone broke in or something!
I wonder if this means my race is cancelled tonight. :ermm:
We never get earthquakes in Ontario so this is quite strange.
Be safe!
Milwaukee, WI!
oh no – how scary! One good thing about living in Australia is that we dont have earthquakes phew
we felt it here! (you know where i am) :) scary!
i didnt feel it, but i work downtown and everyone there did. Downtown toronto was going crazy this afternoon!
Wow, that’s crazy. We’re quake-free in DC.
SO weird..I have lived in Vancouver for 6 years and never had an earthquake to date..and then you Eastern-ers get one..
We sure felt it at work in east-end Ottawa…. we got evacuated from the building for a bit till they were sure there wouldn’t be any aftershocks…. my chair moved( no wheels)!
The guys upstairs from us heard it, but I was in the kitchen (downstairs) and we didn’t feel it at all!! Weird!

It was pretty strong in Ottawa, probably the biggest I’ve ever felt in my lifetime. I think what was most frightening was the length of time it lasted. My female coworkers were in a state of panic -two were holding onto each other, others standing in their false wall doorways, another was ducking under her desk for cover, and one screamed when the fire exit door wouldn’t open on first try. It was pretty comical sharing our reactions with one another while we waited to be let back into the building.
My house shook like crazy here in Ottawa. I actually thought it was going to fall on my head! I am so happy to hear that no one was hurt. Such an odd occurrence for Ontario!
I’m apparently totally clueless because I’m in Ontario and I didn’t feel a thing! :P
We felt it here in Buffalo, NY! Pretty wild huh?
We felt it in Kitchener!!
We didn’t feel anything in our part of upstate NY, but we’re in the Catskills, so we probably missed it. Scary!

Yep, I felt not shaking, but a gentle sway back and forth, in my office building in downtown Detroit. No one else did, though, and I thought I had imagined it, or the wind had picked up enough to sway the building, or something. We don’t get too many earthquakes in Michigan (I’m 30 and have never felt one before) so I thought it was the *coolest thing ever* and texted my sister-in-law in San Fran to gloat, filled out the USGS did-you-feel-it survey, etc.
Yikes, all this talk of earthquakes….eeek! I’ve never experienced one however, I live in Texas and we have tornados and 105 degree temps….
Hope everyone is okay.
We actually had a tornado touch down a few miles south of us in Buffalo too. So we had an earthquake and a tornado in the same day! (but it was only 85 degrees! haha)
That happened in southeast Michigan, too! First an earthquake, then a tornado that night.
I didn’t feel it in Downtown Buffalo, but everyone who came in to work during the day said they did (even the people next door). No one in my office felt it. I was kind of disappointed! I there was another one here about 12 years ago and I didn’t feel that one either :-(
We felt it down in Providence, RI!!
Windsor, CT!
