Shake ‘n Bake

June 23, 2010

Just wanted to do a quick poll about who else felt the earthquake not too long ago?

Leave a comment below with your location if you felt it…I have heard that it was also felt in NY, Vermont, Pittsburg, etc.

My house was shaking like crazy and I thought someone broke in or something!

I wonder if this means my race is cancelled tonight. :ermm:

We never get earthquakes in Ontario so this is quite strange.

Be safe!

Earthquake hit at the same time that a major G20 protest was coming down the street outside my office building. Between all the workers in the area being evacuated onto the street, the protesters, hundreds of police and snipers and hot weather – I have had enough! Haha. Glad everyone I safe though!

I didn’t feel it here in Boston but it could have happened when I was bouncing on the elliptical and just thought I was in a good groove. Earthquakes scare the crap out of me and is one of the reasons why I could never live in California. Give me a good blizzard any day over an earthquake.

The last time we had a good size earthquake here in the northeast I was up in Stowe, VT down in a cave. It was scary to think what could have happened if the opening caved in.

Glad you’re ok and it wasn’t an intruder. Be safe out there and be on the watch for the after-shocks.

I’m in Fredericton, New Brunswick and I’m not sure if it was a coincindence or not, but our office building shook at approximately the same time. So I’m assuming that’s what we felt … scary!

Bizarre! I was just looking on the NZ geo website to find out about the earthquake I felt last night, then pulled up your page! Had to do a double take :-)

I’m in Toronto, and everything in my apartment was shaking a little…it didn’t register with me that it was an earthquake though. Then I saw on twitter, everyone was talking about it…so weird! In all my life, I don’t remember us having any earthquakes around here!

I was near the end of a kickboxing class on my lunch break when they came in and told us. My whole office building was evacuated as a precaution. But now I am hearing possible tornado warnings for Suthern Ontario. What a weird day!!

Ahh that is scary! I live on Vancouver Island so I didn’t feel it. There’s supposed to be a major earthquake on the west coast sometime in the near future, which freaks me out :O

I’m in downtown Pittsburgh and didn’t feel a thing. I can’t believe that a 5.5 would be felt in different states. Odd.

I’m near Cleveland, Ohio and we were able to feel it in my office! I’ve been tired all afternoon, so I thought it was just me til my coworkers said they felt it too :)

BTW- been following your blog for a while and love it!

People working in my building felt it, but I must have really been focused on my work because I didn’t noticed.

We felt it in London, ON. I had chalked it up to construction from living in a new suburb until I turned on the TV!

That’s so weird! I’m in DC, so I obviously didn’t feel it, but I haven’t even heard about it–crazy. Hope everyone is safe!

We felt it in Amherst, NY. The whole building shook.

I started reading your blog about a month ago. Good luck racing! We have some great triathlons in the area, you should check them out! And I’m not just saying that cause I work for the race management company ;-)

Felt it in downtown Toronto – although barely, because our building is built on crazy “hockey pucks” to prevent the building from moving too much during earthquakes. I’m from BC, and I really thought I’d left all this behind when I moved out East!

Is this some sort of warning about the G20? :D

I live in Ottawa, but currently on the road for work. My daughter definitely felt it as she sent me a text right away. She thought it was kind of cool. I never heard of that happening and certainly have never experienced it before. She said they were expecting another one within the next while.

It hit Montreal but the only reason I know that is about 4 different people from my office came up to me asking if I “felt” it because apparently our building was shaking.

I live all the way in California… too far to feel anything.

Hope your race doesn’t get canceled!
