Hey guys!
Hope you are having a fabulous Thursday. I am trucking along and trying not to get too stressed out that I am really behind in my preparation for Saturday’s market. I had a few set backs this morning! I’m really hoping the clock ticks a bit slower from now until Saturday morning.
I thought I would show you what wonderful goodies arrived in this week’s CSA! We have a lot of SCARFING to do!
Eric and I both noticed that the volume of our half share has increased this week! Must be getting into the plentiful season!
We agreed it is impossible not to have a super clean diet when you have a CSA share. So many veggies to eat! Eric also said that he has noticed he has a lot more energy since eating less processed foods and more veggies. I think he is slowly discovering that good wholesome foods = happier Eric! I think when people make changes to their diet, they really have to experience the benefits first hand before they will believe it…
Apples, cucumber, green onions, garlic scapes (mhauhuaa), lettuce, fresh basil, etc.
Green Monster joy…
Afternoon breaks (with nut butter!)…
The lettuce is so light and fluffy…
The battle of the Green Onion and Garlic Scape! DUN, DUN, DUN!
My oh my.
So dainty and delicate.
Hmmmm…..
What is this?
I know you guys will pull through on this one for me, as always!
Also, can you believe I have never had fresh basil at home before?
Am I supposed to plant this? I do not have a green thumb, although I do try! Last summer I planted herbs (from the seeds) and they didn’t grow. Maybe I just did it wrong?
The basil smells SO good! Eric and I were drooling in the car over it.
I knew exactly what I wanted for lunch today….
A toasted sandwich with fresh basil, tomatoes, cucumbers, hummus, avocado, EVOO, pepper, and sea salt!
This was INCREDIBLE!!!! I almost died when I tasted how good fresh basil is on a sandwich!!!
Seriously, how did I not know this?
Liquid energy…for a busy baker.
Along with a Liberate GF + Raw Glo Bar! YUM.
This was one of my favourite lunches in a long time!
Well, I need to get back to work. Going to be a very late one tonight, so I will likely see you in the morning! Have a lovely day.
I’m almost ashamed to admit it, but I’m not really familiar with the CSA stuff. How did you find out about it and get involved?
I love basil on sandwiches. If you weren’t vegan, i would recommend having some on a mozzarella sandwich!. I wonder what the vegan equivalent of mozzarella is? If there is such a thing, try it with that! It’s delightful.
Hm… and I’d been thinking they were dandelion greens because of the spikey-ness. :)
Aren’t tiny strawberries the best? I lived in Germany for awhile and though I’d died and gone to heaven with all their fabulous, tiny, tasty strawberries. Sadly, even the organic ones at my grocery stores in Canada have been the size of my head! It just seems unnatural…
Oh my gosh that’s a lot of produce!!! I just got back from the famer’s market with some nice buys but nothing campared to what you got :D It’s like Christmas!
Yum! All that veg makes me want to eat something tasty and healthy! x
Mmm. All those veggies look so good! I suddenly feel like going produce shopping tomorrow. :)
I love fresh basil!!! It goes on everything in our house :)
That sandwich looks deeelish! I’m drooling!!
Good luck with getting everything together – I’m sure you’ll pull through with flying colors :)
Don’t know what the veggie is, but plant the basil in a pot. Leave outside for the summer then bring in onto a window sill for the rest of the year.
Angela, your sandwich looks wonderful?
Curious… I am in the market for a new food processor… what do you use? I would like to do some of the raw dough cookies I am seeing, and of course, banana soft serve. Help? Thanks.
I wish I could get a CSA delivery of just those strawberries. I’m dying for real, from-the-farm strawberries. Oh, and totally plant the basil. I don’t have a green thumb in the least and my basil is turning into a tree. Plus, it’s on my balcony without a lot of sun. I don’t think you can kill it.
I have major produce envy right now! I’ve never heard of garlic scrapes until I saw them on your blog. They look very interesting!
Fresh basil is much better than dried. Glad you enjoyed it :)
My guess is kale?? All that fresh produce and that sandwich is making me hungry….must put some freshies in my belly!
Produce overload! If I got that I don’t know how I would get through it all in a week! Im glad that Eric is realising the benefits of all those veggies, they are certain better than processed foods. I hope you feel like you have got somewhere today with your market prep, I so know the feeling of wanting the time to go slowly.
Oh my gosh, that basil is GORGEOUS!!! The spinach and apples look amazing, too! I have my own garden, otherwise I’d be in a CSA — I love the concept!
What is the half share? Are you splitting with another family or does the CSA offer that?
The CSA offers a half and a full :)
Love all of the fresh produce! I love that it’s basil season. It’s seriously my favorite thing ever!
Wow, it’s amazing how many veggies you eat in a week – looks delicious. I love veggies as well but I always get stomach issues if I eat to many of them. Maybe I will get used to them one day ;-)
oooh I love all of it! Especially the basil! You will have to make pesto, or a pizza, or both!!!
I just love fresh basil. Im trying (for the second time) to grow some, and I really hope I dont kill it this time. Its so great to have!
Ive been trying to find a CSA around here, there doesnt seem to be much. Im really hoping to find something though because its SUCH a good idea!
