Do you ever start a project with zest and vitality only to feel like you’ve created an uncontrollable monster after a couple hours?
Examples: Cleaning out your closet. Organizing a pantry. Home renovations. Writing a thesis. Wedding thank yous. Sometimes, it has to get worse before it gets better.
Well, that’s sort of how I felt with this little pet project of mine. What started as an innocent list quickly became a huge undertaking. I asked you for suggestions yesterday on twitter and Facebook for online and in-person stores and they came a floodin’ in! (If you are curious, check out the list here on my Facebook page). My list quickly turned into 4 pages of chicken scratch. Originally, I started making a blog post linking and organizing ALL of the in-store and online vegan stores across the world. You can see how I quickly got in over my head. After working on it all day yesterday, I decided to just focus on the online stores for this post and then figure out what I will do with the storefront list after.
This vegan online shopping guide is a follow-up to Monday’s “Inside my Vegan Pantry” post. My goal for this guide today is to bring awareness to all of the wonderful vegan & vegan-friendly online stores. Feel free to do some price comparing to get the best bang for your buck.
Most of the stores below are food-related, but I also included some clothing and cosmetics as well.
I will add to this list as other recommendations come in (feel free to let me know about other online stores in the comment section!). It’s also likely that I missed some of your suggestions on Twitter and FB yesterday, so you can comment below if you don’t see it on the list and I will add it in.

fakemeats.com is a us based online store!
This is a great list, thanks! This is probably a stretch, but do you happen to know of any that ship to China? I’ve been living in Beijing for a little more than a year and I usually have to get friends or family to purchase things in America and FedEx them to me. Would be great to be able to cut out the middleman!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for the listing of websites in Australia!
I am not vegan or even vegetarian, but the last few weeks, my husband and I have been discussing cleaning up our diet, and starting to eat a more plant based diet. I am more heavily leaning towards eliminating a lot of dairy out of our diet also.
Thank goodness for the internet!! :) Blogs like yours help so much, so many yummy recipes, and ideas!
Where we live, by no means a small country town, but it is sooo hard to find GOOD, not too expensive dairy/gluten/whatever free foods. Also so hard to buy organic food, especially produce :( sigh.
We try though, and supermarkets here are getting slightly better on the organic front. The more we buy them, hopefully the more they will get in!
Yay for the internet!
Thanks for your wonderful blog Angela :) you are a continuing inspiration to me :)
In the USA, we have an all vegan online health shop called VeganVita.com. It is great and you may want to add it to your list. www.veganvita.com
Online Vegan Store – Ireland
Hi Angela, I would like to add a place to this list – although it is only a website for their actual shop – http://www.pikowholefoods.co.nz/ . It might help out vegans/vegetarians living in the Canterbury area of New Zealand. This shop is literally within walking distance from my house and it’s where I go to get all the ingredients I never knew about before discovering your site (coconut oil, chia seeds, rice syrup, nutritional yeast (called “brewer’s yeast”, here), Medjool dates, etc.) It’s a little haven in a country where vegan/organic food is hard to come by, but is slowly making more of an emergence/growing in popularity. I always thought it would be easier to become vegan in Canada or the US as you seem to have so much more variety/choice of what to buy (I would KILL to have a Wholefoods in my town!!). Anyway, check it out and I hope you enjoy! :} sincerely, Whytney.
Hey Whytney! Thanks so much for your comment! I have added the store to my list, thanks for sharing. :) All my best!
Hi Angela, Love this list! I would like to add Arbonne (if someone else hasn’t mentioned it already). Arbonne is a vegan certified company. They are known for their skin care, but the wellness products are amazing, too (gluten free, soy free, no artificial sweeteners, colors, etc).
Arbonne is in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK currently. The main website is www.arbonne.com. I am an Arbonne Independent Consultant and District Manager. My website is www.plantfit.myarbonne.com. Anyone can contact me to order (and I can set them up with discounts).
Thanks again for putting such a great list together!
Hi Angela!
Thank so much for your wonderful list. I am not sure if any Canadians mentioned www.healthyplanet.ca. or www.LuckyVitamin.com. Healthy Planet is a Canadian website that offers supplements, vitamins and food and grocery items as well. Lucky Vitamin is similar to iHerb.com but ships to Canada. I have found that you can buy Barney Butter on Lucky Vitamin in the sample packs. Just waiting for it to go on sale. I do find it frustrating though that Canadians have less selection when it comes to online shopping.
I was wondering where you buy your raw nuts. I have been searching and haven’t come up with a good option. Also, which chia seeds do you buy? I looked at Chia seeds direct and they have more than one type.
Here is a new vegan online store – http://veganmarket.wordpress.com/
High protein vegetarian foods (i.e. tofu), natural sweetener (stevia leaf), nori seaweed, and carob powder can be bought there (really cheap prices, IMHO) – the range of the food will be broadened:)
Enjoy!
http://www.bobsredmill.com/ is my go-to place for all kinds of hard-to-find grains, meals, seeds, and much more.
Thank you for all your great vegan recipes (with great photos), and a great website.
A great online store that i ordered from recently has great vegan products, organic supplements, all natural cosmetics with great prices and they offer free shipping in Canada for orders over $99.
You should add trulyorganicfoods.com to Canada!
For Germany you can add: “Alnatura” and “Denns” which are organic supermarkets. Also in the south of germany, where i live there are organic farmers in a lot of towns. Mostly they sell their products in a little shop on the farm. When there is the label “Bioland” or “Demeter” it is the best, organic quality you can get,
Just went to Spencer’s and got all excited. When I checked the shipping costs it said that they do not ship outside the US! Yet it is listed under Canada. Just wanted to warn people. Did they ever ship here?!
Know of any of these stores that are based in South Africa or ship here without ingredients going stale in shipping process?
Looking for the best prices on Organic Spices in the USA. Any recommendations, TKs
