One of Those Mornings

April 8, 2009

I’m not a happy camper this morning. I was just finished my blog entry for this morning and my computer froze and I lost the entire thing! I’m not even sure why Live Writer didn’t have a draft of it saved, but it is gone. :( Lost in the Internets somewhere, I guess, eh?? lol.

Whew…

Anywho, what I intended to blog about, I will still write although I now don’t have time to really write as much as I hoped!

This morning I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning! I was up late working on Glo Bakery and it was freezing in the house this morning. I hear it is supposed to warm up and be sunny the rest of the week though, so I am pumped about that! :)

I decided to make a Glo Bar with some coffee in it to give me a kick to my step.

Now, I am not a coffee drinker, but I do love a hint of coffee in my baked goods.

Wakey Wakey Chocolate Coffee Glo Bites

These gave me such an energy boost! I would recommend these when you need a jump start to a morning workout. I feel ready to hit the treadmill now.

Ingredients: Dates, walnuts, cashews, organic cocoa, dark chocolate, pure vanilla extract.

Nutritional Information (1 bar/9 bites): 189 calories (kcal); 12g Total Fat; 23g Carbohydrates; 0mg Cholesterol; 3mg Sodium; 4g Fibre; 4g Protein.

These were delicious!

I wanted to wait to post this beauty product review until I had tried it for a good week.

Coconut Oil as skin moisturizer- Does it work?

IMG_8434

I admit I was a bit worried when I put the coconut oil on my skin! It felt greasy and I wasn’t sure if it would soak in or not. However, what I found the key to be with coconut oil is less is more. You really don’t need much for it to be effective!

IMG_8436

As you can see it literally melts right into the skin!

IMG_8439

When I was given this beauty tip I was told to rub it on before the shower and then in the shower it will gradually wash off, leaving you with soft skin once out of the shower.

I didn’t do this because I wanted to see what it would be like just putting it on like normal cream. Once I realized to put it on with a light touch, I really liked it!

This bottle cost me $8.50 which is about the same as my regular Nivea cream. I am willing to bet that this will last me twice as long too.

It feels really good to be putting something totally organic on my skin, instead of a whole slew of chemicals and ingredients I can’t pronounce.

I especially love putting this on my elbows and knees! :)

Well, I am now behind on my day so I need to make this short!

On my list:

  • Morning treadmill workout
  • Work
  • Lunch/Post
  • Drive to pick up Food Safety course manual, bakery items
  • Work

Have a great hump day!!

Thanks for the tip – I need to try that! I am highly allergic to most cleansers so hopefully coconut oil will help.

I didn’t have such a good morning either. I REALLY didn’t want to get out of bed but I did, got in the shower, got dressed, made my breakfast and sat down to watch some CNN while I ate and I realized it was 4:59 – an hour before I set my alarm. I had dreamt that my alarm went off and got up an hour and a half before I needed to! ugh..
I need one of those wakey bites! they look so yummy.

Really cool tip about the coconut oil – I’ll give it a try with the jar I have in my cabinet!

The chocolate coffee bites look yummy! I have a bunch of medjool dates, so I might play around with your genius glo bar ideas :)

Ugh, I hate when I have computer issues like that!

I’m so glad you like the coconut oil! I’ve never tried applying it before I shower. I use a small amount right after I get out, while my skin is still a little wet, and it absorbs beautifully. My bigggest fear was smelling like coconut all day, but there’s really no lingering smell at all.

Sorry about the tech glitch! Those are never fun at all. Save, save, save…back up, back, up, back up :)

Thank you for posting your review of the coconut oil. I have been eying a jar at the local health store, but have been too hesitant to drop the $10. However I’ve been looking for an all natural (organic is better!) moisturizer and it sounds like this one might take the cake (and is cheaper than other natural lotions I’ve looked at). Thanks!!

Hi! I have been reading for a couple weeks and must now confess that I’m addicted to your blog! I love it!

How in the world do you have the TIME to do all of this?! Do you sleep? :D

I noticed you don’t post exact recipes on here…or am I a missing something. Is that because you’re creating the Glo Bakery?

Anyways, just wanted to say that I love your blog!

That Sucks!
I was just wondering – are you still looking for a job or have you decided to stay at home and do Glo Bakery full time? Just curious!

Coconut oil works wonders not only for the skin but even for the hair. I massage it to the scalp and the hair, just 30 minutes prior to washing my hair every Sunday. It makes hair super soft and shiny.

Only thing is you have to double wash your hair to get rid of the grease.

Thanks for the tip! I used to use coconut oil everyday but then found it too greasy. I’ll def. try using less now.

Yummy chocolate truffles =)

Speaking of morning energy, thought this short piece on veggies at breakfast was great. I like fresh tomato sandwiches for breakfast once tomato season hits, myself. ;)
