Happy Friday Night!
I had a proud moment this week that I forgot to tell you about!
I was really tempted to go tanning- yes tanning bed – before our vacation. I kept thinking, man my skin is so pale and would look better with a tan. I almost went this week…I was so close to going…and then I made myself re-read the Love Your Skin Movement. That was all I needed to kick myself in the butt for even thinking I needed a tanning bed!
I think women especially need constant reminders that it is OK to be PALE- or whatever colour you are supposed to be!!!
Whew that feels good to get out. :)
Dinner was what I like to call- Use Up As Much Food In The Fridge As Possible! ;)

Everything But The Kitchen Sink Salad
- Romaine
- Avocado
- Red Pepper
- Chickpea and Spinach dish
- English Cuke
- 3 Minute Vegan Parmesan Cheese
- Better Than Bottled Balsamic Vinaigrette
I also had a bowl of spaghetti because we had to use up a bottle of sauce!

Totally uncomfortably full right now. Volume food overload…oops.
It is time for another HNRU! This is starting to be one of my favourite ways to wind down the work week. I hope you enjoy some of my favourite health links from the past week.

I was telling Eric about our stay in Orlando (we are staying at Caitlin’s for two nights!) and Eric was asking about Caitlin’s husband. He goes, ‘Oh he is the baker, right?’ and I said, ‘No, that is Kath’s husband!’ lol…it was cute. It’s really funny because he can match up several bloggers to their blog names…I always joke that we should have a husband/boyfriend blog trivia show down.
Tonight’s question- how would your significant other (or whoever you talk blogs to in your life) do in a blog trivia? Do people in your life know much about the blogs you read each day? Do you talk to them about it?
Sometimes, I start telling people (like my hairdresser) about blogs…and I am always baffled when people tell me they didn’t even know food blogs existed! It’s hard to believe, but true. ;) I would guess maybe .05% of the population knows about food blogs.
My friend is coming over in a few minutes to do a manicure on my nails…very excited for this! I never paint my nails anymore being a baker and all, so it will be fun to have them done for a couple weeks. Not sure if I will have time to blog tomorrow morning…if not, see you in the Sunshine State!

Have fun on vacation!
I used to be a tanning bed addict. I try to much smarter now,but I think we all fall prey to the “tan is better” mentality. Good job on ignoring it!
So funny! Just before I read this, I told the hubs, “gonna get online & check on ‘the blogs’!” Earlier this evening even, it was “You:Facebook::me:blogs” – LOL! Funny that you should mention it in your post after we were just talking about it tonight!
But no, I’m pretty vague – I usually give him facts with some details (“I read that…”) instead of saying “Angela”, “Kath”, “Tina”, etc. :-)
HAVE FUN IN THE SUN! (had to say it… we got SNOW today. Frowny.)
Definitely love your skin – I was just in Australia and was amazed at how many girls didn’t put on any sun cream because they “want to get a tan.” Of course all of the Aussies and any SMART person knows it’s essential especially in Oz because the sun is so strong there, but I just couldn’t believe it.
I am really loving the Health News Round Up!
I’d never read your Love Your Skin Movement post before. Very interesting! Though I tan fairly easily, I haven’t spent a significant amount of time in direct sunlight in the past few years (i.e. laying out in the sun in a swimsuit), and as a result, my skin tone is pretty light for what it can be. I am not overly pale by any means, but it amazes me that strangers (in professional settings!) think it is appropriate to comment on/joke about my complexion.
None of the people in my city have heard of food blogs!! My hubby would do pretty well I think :-)
Good for you for avoiding the temptation to fake and bake!! I say it’s all about embracing your naturally beautiful skin colour!
My husband asks me daily if Tina has put up any new pics of Murphy. He loves that little guy since we can’t have our own yet!
I am a total tanning bed ADDICT, I know that I might be hurting my skin, but I HATE how I look when I am not tan and I think that because I am trying to accept my body at the SIZE it is these days, I think I can tan for a couple years!! :)
It’s not that you MIGHT be hurting your skin…you ARE hurting it, and you’re putting yourself at a huge risk for a totally preventable cancer. Why not try self tanners or spray tans? They won’t kill you and they’ll ensure that you have a long life to enjoy that body of yours!
My boyfriend thinks blogs are cool but he never updates his. He is an economist and has found it a bit difficult to find other econ blogs. ;)
However, my mom and brother would have no clue what a food blog was!
It is REALLY funny how few people know about food blogs! I am so engrossed in them, sometimes I’m like, “What do you MEAN you don’t know about food blogs??” haha. But my boyfriend is good, he’s learning. He knows who is who, like when I went out to lunch with you guys, he was like “Angela is the baker who made me those cookies, right?” (from our anniversary last year). I was like, yes! You remembered! haha
xo

Lol my fiance definitely knows all about my blog friends, and probably gets sick of hearing about them haha.
Oh boy, have fun on your trip!
My boyfriend might know a teensy bit about some of the bloggers, but I don’t talk about it that much. I love food blogs and reading about recipes, fitness, health, and body image stuff, but that is definitely low on his list of interests!
Your salad looked awesome :) I’ve never been to a tanning bed but I’ve had a few spray on tans, they’re fun!
My husband and I used to go to the tanning salon before Caribbean holidays, but since he was diagnosed with melanoma last summer at the age of 33, we’ll never go back. I don’t think the tanning bed 100% caused his cancer as the mole he had removed always looked iffy, but it definitely didn’t help. Thank god the doctors were able to get all the cancer through surgery, and a lymph node removal showed it didn’t spread, but the huge scar on is back serves as a constant reminder that it’s just not worth it. It could easily have turned out a lot worse for us and I think my lucky stars every day that he’s still with me…I’ll take being pasty & pale over being a widow any day!
Forgot to add – what’s Sketchie been up to these days? I haven’t seen him on your blog lately.
My husband would fail every trivia question except probably yours! In my house you are known as “Sketchie’s Mom” – LOL! He would pair that up right away with “Oh, that’s Angela, right? The one that makes you the bars?” :-)
Thanks for sharing all the articles! Always informative and so convenient to have them all in one spot!
A really great sunless tanning alternative that I use is “Tanagement” by Nature’s Path Organics. It’s paraben free, and I usually mix it with some moisturizer too to make it last longer..it’s a tad expensive but worth it for a nice “glow”!
I have bought it in the past from VitaCost, it has the best price that I’ve found so far! http://www.vitacost.com/Natures-Gate-Tanagement-Self-Tanning-Creme
Have a fantastic trip, looking forward to seeing some Florida pictures! :)
Great article list, so exciting about your vacation. I like getting MacGyver in the kitchen using what I have to put meals together and your creation looks great!
Since my blog is still pretty young, hubby is not too familiar with fellow bloggers (yet) and not quite the healthnut I am. :-)
I love your weekly article list – thank you for providing that! I hope you keep it up. Have a great trip!
