Next up, on our Honeymoon tour: Athens, Greece!
Missed Stop 1? Venice
Fun facts about Athens:
- Athens is the largest city & capital of Greece
- It’s one of the world’s oldest cities
- Population: approximately 3,932,756
- First modern Olympic Games were held in Athens in 1896
- Birthplace of many prominent writers, philosophers, politicians and scientists of the ancient world, including Sophocles, Socrates and Pericles.
And it’s smokin’ hot! ![]()
It reached a high of 38 degrees Celsius the day we were there. Eric and I were sweating buckets while climbing the Acropolis and Filopappos hill. We finally reached the top of the Acropolis and discovered there was no water to be found, just a lot of thirsty tourists! If you ever find yourself climbing this, bring more than 1 bottle of water… ;)
There are about 150,000 stray dogs living on the streets in Athens. I wanted to take all of them home…
After our climbs, we headed to the Plaka shopping area where there are a lot of tourist/market type shops and high end shopping too.

I love these pictures! My husband and I are still waiting to go on our honeymoon, but this makes me wish we could go now! What a beautiful place to be and so full of history.
Oooh, awesome pics! And I would love to be entered in the giveaway, please (well, if they ship to Canada, anyway!!) :)
Since I didn’t win the blender, I’ll try for the tea! Love your website and recipes, thanks for all the inspiration and for being so transparent with your readers. You rock!
mmm… these teas would be so lovely iced and then could take me by the hand into autumn in a warm mug…
Ahhh, seeing those pictures feels like reliving Greece all over again! I went for 3 weeks for a Culinary Journalism course for college and I loved every day of it! It’s really neat to see that you took some pictures in almost the exact spots that I did. The Acropolis was really fun to climb and I’m glad that I brought my water bottle and some Larabars up with me. :P
All of those flavors sound so yummy!
Wow, I would love to go to Greece someday, although like you, I think I’d try to take all the stray dogs back home with me. The teas look delicious, banana bread tea would be heavenly.
What awesome pictures of Athens! I went there when I was 12 and sadly did not have the photography skills to bring back very great shots. >.< Your pictures make me want to return and try again even when it's that sweltering! Thanks for sharing these. =)
Athens looks absolutely stunning. The pictures are beautiful. :)
All of those tea flavors sound great. I’d love the Orange Blossom!
I have never tried loose leaf tea before – these look great ! Perfect in time for the fall weather that will be coming soon(but not too soon :))
Those loose teas look amazing! I just purchased a new kettle and definitely could use some new varieties of tea to sample! (PS you’re photography is beautiful!)
I love tea! … eek! :)
Athens is definitely on my list of places to visit in my lifetime. And those tea flavors sound so interesting! I wonder what banana bread tastes like??
Pick me! Pick me! I love loose leaf tea:)
I loved Greece. I went with some friends right before we graduated from high school and I want to go back this summer for law school study abroad. Gorgeous pictures!
Your pictures are really good. For the teas, the chocolate banana flavor is intriguing to me !
Gorgeous pictures, I would love to visit Athens someday!
That tea looks delicious!
My hubs is Greek. Right after our wedding three years ago, his dad 1 hour photo-ed our wedding shots, and flew off to Athens (where his family is). I wish I could have gone with him.. and Hubs too I guess. :) Looks like it’s a gorgeous honeymoon for you!!
Oh Angela you are such a great photographer! I’d love to see Greece one day…although I’m dying for Fall weather (and food) in Toronto so I’m not too keen on the heat righ tnow :-)
I hear Greece is a good place to travel to currently because their economy isn’t good. Bad for them of course but cheaper for tourists!
