‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.

I have been following your blog for a while now, but this is my first time commenting :)
I am still trying to overcome body issues and an unhealthy relationship with food. I can relate to all of your struggles, and to know you’ve come out on the other side is truly inspiring! :) I have two little girls now, and I want them to love their bodies and see themselves as beautiful as I do. And I know, it all begins with me.
Thank you Ang!
“Friendship with ones self is all important, because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else in the world.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt
This quote is specifically about being a female scientist (I’m a biologist), but it can be applied to almost any situation:
“But you don’t become great by trying to be great. You become great by wanting to do something and then doing it so hard that you become great in the process. So don’t try to be the next Curie, Noether, or Meitner. Just remember that if you want to do this stuff, you are not alone.”
I have learned that positive thoughts bring positive things. It sounds so simple and obvious but it wasn’t until I started treating myself with positives that I was able to see how negative I could be. I’ve also applied that to others, looking at them in a positive light has made me feel better about myself.
I’ve also learned that a tasty dessert isn’t worth skipping :)
It’s the ego that thinks we own our successes and our failures, when actually it’s what we do with them that matters
Hi Angela! I thought I would share a few of my favorite quotes with you pertaining to health, exercise, weight loss, body image, etc.
“Nothing that matters comes easy, Nothing that comes easy ever really matters.”
“Now is the time for guts and guile” – Elizabeth Taylor (I always remember this quote when i’m struggling).
“Quote your moaning” – Cathe Friedrich (always a nice little reminder to myself during a tough workout :) ).
“You are free to turn impossible odds into a set of stairs that go either 6 feet under or 600 miles high, bringing you to a place few will ever reach” – Sean O’Malley, CardioCoach
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Love this quote. Helps me remember to celebrate small life victories and not be so overwhelmed by the stress of a huge project/goal/deadline, etc.
I’ve been a swimmer my entire life, and it has done an excellent job of keeping me in shape. However, during competitive high-school swimming, the insane work-outs left me with tons of muscle, which was great! I never complained, I loved feeling strong and lean. However, I was reading an article in a magazine one day, and it said that a woman who is 5’5″ (my height) should weigh 120 pounds. I was shocked. I was well over that weight. I shared this with my mom, who told me that not only does muscle weigh a lot more than fat, but the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn on a daily basis. She helped me go back to feeling good, not worrying about some silly number. As long as I’m being healthy, that’s all I should really need to be happy :) (We don’t even own a scale anymore. What’s the point right?)
Said to me by one of my favourite Sergeants…. “Adapt and Overcome”
This always comes to mind when I am faced with a particularly difficuly situation
This is really simple, but the thing that I have learned is “Do it now.” I’m a major procrastinator, and will put off exercise, healthy cooking, errands, etc., if I let myself. By telling myself to just do it, I get a lot more done, feel better about myself, and don’t get angry at myself for wasting time.
One of my favorite is: “Just as the ocean cleanses itself constantly, we too must be continually reviewing our thoughts and renewing out minds. Relationships only change when our minds are transformed.”

Favorite Quote : “Energy and Persistence conquer all things”
My journey to health would not be what it has been without persistence that’s for sure!
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt
Reminds me that we really only have control over how we see the world and how we react to it. Everything else is uncontrollable and it is better to lift yourself up then allow yourself to be brought down. :)
I’ve learned and AM learning that health and happiness go together. So just exercise and diet isn’t enough – I have to feel good, I have to do things for me, I have to have a good attitude for ME. I can’t make changes for anyone else. I have to happy and healthy for me!!!
My favorite quote is:
Don’t do nothing because you can’t do everything. Do something.
I love this quote and think it applies to veganism, healthy eating, exercise, cleaning the house, etc!
My running room clinic instructor quoted this last night…..”Act as if you are,”. He said that it’s an expression used by Terrence Mahon, the head running coach for the US Olympic team. He uses it to get his athletes to pursue goals that go beyond anything they’ve accomplished before.
“I am on a common sense diet…eat junk and feel junky, eat healthy to be healthy:) “
Firstly I just wAnted to tell you how much i adore your blog and words of inspiration, i too came to the vegan life through a long and rough journey I now live everyday feeling better and better that i am chasing after a life of well being and treating my body with respect.
The quote i fell in love with was one I heard recited by a yoga instructor at the end of a class: “we are visitors on this planet we are here for ninety or one hundred years at most. During that period we must try to do something good, something useful with our lives. If you contribute to other peoples happiness, you will find the true Hialeah, the true meaning of life.”
-Dalai Lama
My favorite quote: ““The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering.” – Ben Okri :)
Favorite quote comes from a sticker we got from Philosophy. It is on our bathroom mirror: “Faces in the mirror are prettier than they appear.” And what I have learned in my 51 years on the planet is that strong is beautiful. I am not pretty, but I have a body and mind that are strong and healthy and that suits me just fine.
