‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

I have been very inspired reading all of the online food blogs over the last couple of years. One of the main things I’ve learned from them is that we are all different. Each persons diet is different and what works for one person does not neccesarily work for another. I’ve had to step back a few times and remind myself of this. I love all of the ideas and recipes I read online and use them as ideas and to supplement a lifestyle that works for me. Love that quote, by the way. ~Leslie
One of my favorite quotes that is a life truth I live by is:
“Don’t worry about the level of individual prominence you have achieved; worry about the individuals you have helped become better people.” -Clayton M. Christensen
I recently lost of one my best friends to suicide and since then I’ve strived to be as happy as I possibly can and not to get stressed by the small things in life. Because, no matter what, I have people in my life who will be there for me, love me and support me. I love food and eating healthy and exercising makes me feel so great. I competed in my first sprint triathlon a few weeks ago and it was amazing! With the help of my fiance’s sister, who is a vegan, she has introduced me to a whole new way of healthy eating and I’m so excited to get started. One of my favorite quotes now is by George Eliot: “The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us, and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know when they are gone”
One of my favorite quotes is “We can break and not be broken.” It’s easy to let the little things pile up and drag you down, but I’ve learned that they ultimately make you stronger.
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us” – Walt Emerson
my mantra is that your day is what you make it. I tell people at work this all the time.. typically on Mondays. If you start out thinking you’re going to have a crappy day.. chances are you will. If you let the negativity pull you down, chances are you’ll stay there. Rise above the crap, don’t let outside forces dictate how you’re going to feel, or what you’ll accomplish.
I’ve learned that being healthy and fit feels much better than any number the scale says!
mmm would love to win some Glo Bars!!! My favorite life lesson was one I saw on an Oprah episode with Maya Angelou… she said “When people tell you who they are– believe them, the first time”. This has held so true to me in life… if someone says “I’m stubborn”, “I’m selfish”, “I can be a jerk” , “I’m bad with money” etc. They are. They know themselves best.
“If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you have succeeded.” Maya Angelou
As a fitness instructor, I always remind my students not to let the number on the scale discourage them or make them feel less accomplished in their fitness goals. During my workouts, I say “Happy heart and healthy muscles are our goals for the day”! I show them that eating healthy and exercising are the best things we can do for ourselves.
My two favorite quotes are: “I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.” – Gandhi. “The brain simply believes what you tell it most! And, what you tell it about you, it will create. It has no choice.” – (What to Say When You Talk to Yourself).
I empower women to feel good about themselves and love themselves for who they are and not what others want them to be.
Thank you for your inspiring blog!
One thing I learned throughout my journey is that I am worth much more than I ever gave credit for. We need to love and believe in ourselves!
There is a phrase my sister once sent me that I like: “Everyone is gifted – but some people never open their package”. (Unknown author)
Yep, we are all special in our own ways and once we figure this out life becomes a lot more sweet!
It took me 30 years to finally find, accept, and believe in myself, and now I teach my son that he is a beautiful person, no matter what. And that I love him more than anything, just from him being who he is!
Ana
My favorite is ” Just because you can does not mean that you should” :-)
Thank you so much for all you do !!!
Something that I live by is : “Just because you can does not mean you should” :-)
Thanks for all you do!!
Looks yummy! Favorite quote today: Character is what you do when you think no one is looking.
I believe that the most important thing in life is to believe in yourself, to believe you can achieve things, great things, even in doubt or when everything is falling down, you should always keep in mind that there is this little light, that there is something (better) for you. If everything was so easy in life then what would be the point. Learning is what keeps life interesting and what is learning if you don’t make mistake or deviate from your “path”. There is so many quotes regarding this, I like those two : I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it. ~Pablo Picasso You’ll always miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. ~Wayne Gretzky
We only get one life and it’s ultimately up to you how to spend your time. Surround yourself with good people and it becomes easier to do good things. Making and meeting goals makes all the difference. Instead of obsessing over negative thoughts on how you look or feel or the progress you’ve made, embrace your beauty and your flaws.
One of the things that I have learned to be the most true in my recovery from ED is that if your life is lacking brightness or positivity, you are the one responsible for generating your own. Everyone can bring a little more “glow” into their lives :).
My favorite quote comes by way of my dad, who said “no matter what you do… someone, somewhere, will think you’re an asshole.” It’s a tongue-in-cheek way of saying that you can’t please everyone, so why bother trying.
The past two years have been a challenge at times as I have contemplated (and then acted on) some bold career moves, strived for lofty fitness goals (marathon training!), along with the usual daily grind of mental ups and downs. Not every day is great, even when things are on the upswing. What I do my best to remember is how to be grateful for all these things that are already present in my life, rather than focusing too much on what I want on don’t have. It definitely helps to keep things in perspective.
Great post Angela!
There are so many great quotes that make me stop and think, but two that I always tell my kids are: You choose if you are going to be happy or sad, so start the day with a smile and the rest will fall into place; On a different thread, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all!
