‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

The life lesson I constantly remind myself of is don’t sweat the small stuff. There are so many things to get caught up on but in the end those stresses will aways be there and they are not worth dwelling on.
The other day before my 10k, my sisters boyfriend told me, “Run your own race. Don’t run anybody else’s but your own.” I ran my own race (successfully succeeding in my first 10k) and thinking it over, it can apply to one’s life as well. We shouldn’t compare our own life with others. They’re not living our life and we’re not living theirs. We each live our own and run the path before us on our own. It’s up to our self to make the journey the adventure. . . . .no matter how many trips, stumbles or brambles there are along the way, it’s our own life, our own race, our own adventure.
One of my favorite lesson is “You can’t change other people, you can only change yourself”. It’s just so true and it applies to so many life situations!
That should say lessons! :)
“The pursuit of excellence is gratifying and healthy. The pursuit of perfection is frustrating, neurotic, and a terrible waste of time.” Edwin Bliss
As a collegiate track runner, the theme of this quote is necessary for me to remember. I just try to be the best that God made me to be. Each day differs, but being the best that I can be that day is enough (and really all that I can do!). I really think that God created you and me for a purpose, that we’re not random accidents of nature, waiting for our time on the earth to end. Our life paths may differ, but God gives all of our lives meaning. I love reading your blog, and I hope that you continue to search for and find contentment and meaning in life.
There are sooo many quotes that I love and find inspirational but this is definitely one of the ones I keep close to my heart.
“Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn.” C.S. Lewis
The past does not dictate the present or the future. It is merely the past. Nothing more, nothing less. Let go and live your life with your new knowledge now! :)
I have learned that when I eat healthy I feel better about myself for making the right choices and my body feels better and performs better during my workouts.
I have learned that it is easy to become so entangled in health, nutrition, exercise, etc… that sometimes the little things are taken for granted. I have had to reassess my priorities to make sure that I am still enjoying life and all that it has to offer; even if it means eating an extra 500 calories or skipping a couple of workouts… It’s so easy to become obsessed!
My favorite quote is simple-
“Love Yourself”
Not so much a quote as something to keep in mind (for me, at least): Progress not perfection.
Personality, humor and a positive outlook trumps all else. I don’t know why it took me until the middle of college to discover this, but I’ve tried to lead my life this way and it is so rewarding. Thank you for all your positive messages they really do brighten up my day, and reinforce what is important in life!
Lessons along the way…so many, sometimes I feel tired of learning lessons – but ultimately the day I stop learning lessons is the day I stop living!
I would say the biggest lesson I have learned along the way is that every painful thing I experience is something I have drawn into my life to show me a part of myself. Once I see that part, I have the opportunity to heal it. Without the pain – I never would have seen the darkness that needed attention. With that in mind, I am becoming more full of light every day :-)
I used to feel that a lower weight on the scale was something to celebrate…with food! Not the right attitude, so now I’m learning to know how my clothes fit me and how to heathily readjust when my clothes are getting snug.
The quote that has reasonated with me most lately goes soemthing like, “The #1 commandment of any truely civilized society is this: let people be different.” I LOVE it!
I believe life is about living, experiencing, and loving.
When we’re all 80 years old, we won’t be focusing on how much we weighed… we’ll be remembering all the great times we had and the people we love.
Life, family, friends and experiencing the world <– That is all way too big and important, than wasting my time on the scale :) Enjoy your day and do something to make someone smile, because life is just too short.
“Live your life on purpose” I love this quote!
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
Dr. Suess
Always a reminder that no matter how hard I’m trying to reach a goal, remembering who I am and not comparing myself or subduing to anyone else’s standards is truly an important factor in my success, because, well – there’s only ONE me! :)
“let it be.”
i continue to learn that life is not ours to tame. through all of its tidal waves, uphill climbs and wildly beautiful chaos…we can’t hold on too tightly lest we miss the best parts. i can over-schedule, over-plan and organize till my fingers fall off in hopes of staying in control, but life has its own plans sometimes. living in the moment and learning to “let it be” is a gentle reminder to myself to breathe, relax and enjoy the ride.
“Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better” -Einstein
Angela, I feel like an exact replica of a younger version of yourself and I am just beginning the journey you embarked on to redeem your glow. Your website has introduced the concept of glowing from the inside out to me and has inspired be to begin my journey to discover my own glow. Thank you.
“There is nothing you can do about things that aren’t happening.” This is the best little nugget I’ve resonated with lately. To me it means, stop thinking and planning for things to worry about in the future or the past. It encourages me to stay here now, and focus on what is in the moment… like enjoying a delicious Glo Bar :)
I’ve definitely learned that the scale is ONLY a number and does not define me in any way. I’ve also learned that there is no point worrying about or stressing about things that haven’t happened yet!
