Good evening everyone!
I hope you all had a great day. Tomorrow is Friday….yippee!
The commute is really getting to me this week. We haven’t been getting home until after 8pm at night. It is such a long day and leaves us no free time to ourselves at night. I’m not sure how much longer I can put up with this!
In other news…I sampled two new products this week and thought I would review them for you!
First up:
Think Organic Fruit & Nut Energy Bar in Chocolate Coconut flavour
I didn’t immediately like the bar at first bite, it was much firmer than the Larabars that I am used to. However, after a few bites, the chocolatey and nutty flavour really came out and I really enjoyed this bar!
The bar has 210 kcals, 11 grams of fat (3 of which are saturated- which is the only downfall of this bar), 4 grams of fibre, and 5 grams of protein! Not too shabby.
Ingredients: Organic dates, organic cashews, organic unsweetened coconut, organic cocoa, organic unsweetened chocolate, pectin, organic almonds.
While I enjoyed this bar, I don’t think I would buy it often as it was a bit more expensive than a Larabar and not as good nutritionally.
Next up:
Mary’s Organic Crackers in Herb flavour
See my review for the original flavour here.
At first bite, I wasn’t crazy about the Herb flavour. I think it is because I am not crazy about the taste of certain herbs. However, after I had a few crackers, the taste really grew on me and I had a couple handfuls of them! These would be fabulous with hummus!
You can see the herbs in the cracker :)
I think these crackers are an acquired taste. It isn’t a cracker that you immediately think ‘oh my God this is amazing’, but after you have a few you really appreciate the natural taste of the seeds and rice.
I don’t think I will go back to regular crackers after eating something so hearty, crunchy, and healthy!

Well guys, its now 10pm and I have lots to do before bed tonight! So I must jet!
Eric and I caught The Office (our Thursday night ritual!) and it was hilarious as usual. Ohhh poor Meridith! haha. :D
Have a great night!

Men spend their lives in anticipations,—in determining to be vastly happy at some period when they have time. But the present time has one advantage over every other—it is our own. Past opportunities are gone, future have not come. We may lay in a stock of pleasures, as we would lay in a stock of wine; but if we defer the tasting of them too long, we shall find that both are soured by age.
~Charles Caleb Colton
Thanks for the Think Organic bar review, I’ve been wondering about those for a while.
That quote seriously just made my night, so very true and inspiring, and definitely what I needed! :)
“Tomorrow is Friday….yippee!”
You can say that again!
I love think thin bars the best is the creamy peanut butter and crunchy peanut butter flavors! I agree they are more expensive. those crackers look fabulous I wonder if we have those in CA?
Have a good night!
I feel for ya! Hubby and I leave for work at 7am and the earliest we get home is 6:00pm and thats only on Tuesdays and Fridays if we make no other stops after work. Otherwise it isn’t until 9pm or later we get home! We eat a lot of sandwiches in the car for dinner:(
I work in Mental Health/Substance Abuse and during The Office I kept saying “They can’t just take Meredith to rehab against her will unless there is a court petition! She needs a screening! What about an intake?” I couldn’t turn my work mind off:)
Hey..if you are liking Lara and Luna bars, you might like to try the Kardea bars–balanced nutrition–7g protein, 7g fiber, vegetarian, kosher, carries FDA health claim for heart health, only 150 calories and delicious. If interested in samples, email us at [email protected].
Hi Angela,
I got some Think samples, and I really did not care for them. Have you tried their Brownie Crunch? It was like chewing on shoe leather. Blach!
Hang in there with your commute!!
Great product reviews!! I’m loyal to my Larabars, for sure ;-)
Loved ‘The Office’ last night!!
So sorry you have such a long commute…I won’t tell you how long mine is, I don’t wan you to hate me!!
Thanks for the product reviews. I’m seeing the larabars EVERYWHERE these days but I haven’t seen them in the stores were I live. I can’t wait to try one!!
Happy Friday!!
Yup, I just checked the larabar website and just as I suspected there are no retailers in my area. Oh well…I suppose I could try one of your recipes but I don’t have a food processor. Boy I’m just all out of luck. Haha
Thanks for the reviews!!!
See my blog for a review on Gnu bars!!
I hear you about the commute – yesterday it took me an hour and a half to get home! Usually it takes me about an hour but the traffic was extra slow.
Have you read the book “Good Calories Bad Calories” by Gary Taube? As a researcher, I think it’s a book that you would really enjoy. Also, it has some good information about saturated fat (and why you shouldn’t worry about it so much).
Sorry about the commute!
I agree that The Office was hilarious!! I loved it (as always – I am a die hard Office fan!) I was busting when Michael was dragging Meredith into rehab screaming! And Jim gift wrapping Dwight’s desk! **Sigh** Can you only imagine how incredibly brilliant British Office would be if it was still taping? I love it all :D
