We are eating like kings around here lately. Whoever invented elastic waistbands…I think I love you/hate you. [If you didn’t hear the news in my last post, I’m working away on a second cookbook!]
For my first cookbook, I relied on a fabulous group of dedicated and passionate recipe testers who gave my recipes a whirl in their own kitchens and then provided detailed and honest feedback. Recipe testers are essential to the cookbook development process (just like your recipe reviews on this blog!) and I couldn’t have produced such a solid group of recipes without them. It really takes a village! I recruited family and friends mostly, but since I received a lot of interest from my blog readers, I decided to open it up to you this time around.
I’m looking for recipe testers of all different abilities, so if you are a new cook or a seasoned pro feel free to apply. You certainly don’t have to be vegan either. My passion is creating recipes that people with all kinds of diets can enjoy. Those of you who can commit to testing at least 3 recipes per week will be given top priority as we’ll need to move through the recipes at a good pace.
I’m also looking for testers who will…
follow recipes exactly as written (this isn’t the time to make substitutions, unless suggested in the recipe),
take notes while cooking (such as noting your prep time or any areas of confusion in the directions),
submit thorough feedback immediately following the recipe (there will be an electronic form with standardized questions for each recipe).
You will also need a blender and a food processor as some of the recipes require these tools.
One last thing. Do you love to stuff your face with super delicious food? Perfect. I knew we would hit it off.
If you think you’d like to apply, you can fill out this submission form below. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take on everyone who applies, but thank you all for your generosity in offering your help!

I am a 14 yr old vegan and loving it. When I was 13 I turned vegan and the only reason I survived was your cookbook. My mom, who also turned vegan with me, bought it and we fell in love!!! You may be doubtful to let a fourteen your old test your recipes, but trust me I can cook ;). With my mom’s help and a great appetite I am 100% positive I could give truthful feedback to you on time. Thank you so much for giving my family delicious recipes and considering me as your vegan experimenter.
My family includes vegans, lactose free, wheat free, grain free folk and carnivores, etc!!!! all trying to be healthy and enjoy their food with family and friends. Some glucose and inflammation issues have popped up recently too… SO I am thrilled to find your website and cookbook. EVERYTHING we have tried has been delicious! and EVERYONE has been pleased. You are a miracle worker!
My church community has also been leaning toward offering healthy food from your cookbook for pot lucks and social events… All love your ideas.
Over 300 comments – way to go!
Being a recipe tester would be fun. I test recipes all the time anyway. I have owned my own food manufacturing business and am a food formulator. I have tested hundreds of recipes. I have also tested almost 100 variations of a single recipe, perfecting it for the food manufacturing market. Talk about having to have patience!! You have a lot of applicants, however my experience is unique. I wish you the best!
BTW – My specialties are clean eating, gluten-free, paleo, vegan, sugar-free, high-fiber, raw foods, etc…

Thanks for your consideration,

i have been living in Italy for the past 15 years. Though it is considered a food paradise the reality is that the mediterranean diet has been largely substituted by an americanised, ready-meal orientated one. The majority of people here are truly against vegan food, considering cheese, salami and eggs sacred necessities. They generally shun anything vegetarian or vegan, considering it bland old hippy food. The government itself classifies preserved meats and ham as part of a healthy diet and there is a lot of disinformation. I’d love to test and translate the recipes as I think they are the kind of quick and tasty meals that could really tempt these sceptics out of their comfort zone and into a healthier, kinder lifestyle.
Hi! I am so excited for your new cookbook! I run a home daycare and have a family of my own so healthy eating is important to me! Would love the opportunity to be a recipe tester, I love cooking, experimenting with food, and the pride of hearing your recipients “mmmmmmmm!” While eating what you created for them! :)
Do you still need someone to test recipes? I am a fellow food blogger, I can definitely squeeze 3 of your meals a week in my schedule.
Hi my name is Travis Lewis and I am a recent grad from Robert Morris University (Chicago, IL campus). I’m in search of a career as a food stylist and/or recipe tester. I have a web page of food that I styled during my time at school. Feel free to check it out.
Oh yessss! Another cookbook!!
Both me and my partner are superfans of your recipes and we both work together to create amazing meals thanks to your suggestions. He was the one who told me about your quest for new recipe testers and I am sure he would be delighted if you choose me amongst the candidates :) I, like you, had a difficult relationship with food in the past and I see some traits of myself in your story… Your words and experiences have been of great support :)
Me and my other half are a great team in the kitchen and will be committed to the cause! :)
I love your first cookbook and am working toward being a vegetarian/semi-vegan. Also, the opportunity to be a recipe tester would be fantastic. I’d love to start and your recipes would be a great place to start. Can’t wait for the second cookbook!
I loved the most recent Oh She Glows book. I’ve tried many of the recipes and have fallen in love! I definitely stick to the recipe the first time and modify the second time around. You can never go wrong with some experimentation! Good luck with the new book!
I am interested in whether you are interested in recipe testers. I have an AS in Food Service Management from Naugatuck Valley Community Center and have tested recipes for articles and blogs I have written.
