Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

I’d tell myself to trust my family to be there for me, always, no matter what. :)
And I tweeted!
Hi Angela, I love your recipes. I have pinned several recipes before I saw your give a way. I am following you on pinterest. I am also following you on twitter and have tweeted the blendtec contest. It’ll automatically get sent to my fb. acct. Ok,I think I’ve covered all bases there. I would love to tell my younger self to be not so shy. It doesn’t get you any where. I would say to her that being positive is a great attribute and will get you through tough situations.
I would love to tell myself to take it easy, don’t sweat the small stuff, and enjoy life more. I’d love to tell my younger self to take more risks, there can be a lot of fun in failure when on your way to success!
The advice I would give you my younger self, is to take one day at a time and be thankful for the time that you are given on this earth, because you’ll never know when your last day will be.
I would tell my younger self to be wise with who you pick as your friends
Dear past self: No matter what happens, love yourself always. You are always criticizing yourself, but now it is time to be the confident person you always wanted to be because you have your flaws but you are one of a kind (and frankly my second favorite person (your dog wins first place in that )). Perfect is over rated. All the world needs is you, just as you are now!
I would tell my 16-year-old self to worry less about what people think about you!
I would tell my younger self that everything eventually gets done, don’t stress!
And I tweeted!
What a great giveaway! I would tell my younger self not to worry so much about other peoples opinions and to be brave and keep focused.
My advice to my younger self is to love your body and not to compare yourself to anyone, because one day you will wish you had that 19 year old body again
I’d tell my 16 year-old self to lay off the chicken fingers and burgers. It will make you feel better, look better and be better for the environment. Plus, green monsters ROCK!
Take care of yourself every single day. Little decisions matter. Don’t gain those first extra 10 pounds. Eat more fruits/veggies. Move every day.
I would tell myself that nothing is too big to deal with. In the big picture of life this is a very small part. Focus on your tomorrows, enjoy today and let go of the past. Count your blessings and relax.
I would tell my 16 year old self that red hair (especially 2 tone hair) is not a good look for you! I learned eventually…
I would say to do things for myself that I needed instead of expecting it from others, even when it isn’t fair.
Trust your instincts and don’t doubt yourself! That would’ve gotten me into the right career path the first time around, would’ve saved myself a lot of heartache, and would’ve made me the confidant happy person I am now 15 years earlier!
I would tell myself that the boy who would break my heart at 17 wasn’t nearly as wonderful as the man I would eventually marry :-)
only bother with those friends that will matter!
