Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

I would tell my younger self to keep believing that you can do anything you want. At the very least it doesn’t hurt to try because you never know what you can achieve.
I would tell myself to live in the moment and stop racing through the days without appreciating the little things.
Just tweeted about the giveaway! Happy Halloween!!
I would tell my younger self: Don’t worry about so much about…everything. All the pieces will fall into place when it is supposed to. Relax and smile more, and trust those who truly love you. And speaking of love…he really isn’t the guy for you. But that is ok, because a much better one – who is really right for you – comes along!
Hmmm… to my younger self, I would encourage to live without any regrets and not care so much about what people think! Confidence shines from the inside and no one can take it away, no one!!! (great question)
Also, repinned a few recipes in pintrest!
I would tell my younger self to take better care of my knees… they are those of a 65 year old trapped in a 30 year old’s body. Also, wear more bikinis! like all the time.
I would tell myself to get into the habit or exercising regularly and don’t worry so much about what other people think. When you’re older, forming exercise habits are much more difficult, and the people whose opinion you cared so much about will be long gone from your life! Impress yourself!
Younger Self – clean up your eating. Eating a vegan whole-plant diet will eliminate migraines, allergies, stomach aches, and general overall sickness. If you do that, you’ll run faster, feel better, think quicker, and radiate awesomeness. Oh, and be on the lookout for an amazing website to appear called ohsheglows.com… but don’t feel compelled to make and eat all of her dessert recipes at once.
Dear Becky,
You will not be famous by 27. Don’t give up hope. You did publish a book by then. Keep working hard, keep being a friend, keep learning to express yourself. It’ll all pay off eventually if you stay positive.
Love, Your 27-year-old self.
I would tell myself to floss.
I would tell myself to adopt a plant based diet when my sister did. I kept eating meat and dairy and I always had really bad skin and once I became vegetarian/vegan, my skin cleared up so much! It would have been better for my health and self-esteem!
Bets! At age 17 you have not SEEN the world yet!! You think independence is where happiness is, but you have many, many, many years to “be an adult” Live your life as long as you can as a kid with no worries or cares.
I would tell my younger self to be kind to my body as in love it instead of criticize it constantly and just appreciate what I have!
Dear Lia of the past,
Please, listen to your gut feelings, your intuition. It will never lead you wrong. AND you are as amazing as that front you put on, believe it, know you are worth everything, happiness, respect, joy, all of it. Never, ever let anyone make you feel like you’re worth less.
Much love and infinite hugs,
Lia of the future
I’d tell my younger self to listen to my parents more!
I also pinned one of your recipes!
Tweeted!
I would tell my younger self to relax and enjoy the journey!
Abbie,
Do not eat the yellow snow. It’s not pineapple flavored.
-Future, more mature Abbie
I “tweeted” haha
