Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.

it’s funny because I was just thinking about this yesterday- I would definitely tell myself to stop worrying so much about what other people think about me as it really doesn’t matter and it takes up so much energy.
Thanks for the great giveaway! My fingers are definitely crossed!
I would tell my younger self to trust my parents more. Every time things seems off and/or they seemed to doubt someone I was hanging around with…they always ended up being right!
I’d say hey Marissa, don’t worry so much about what you’re going to do when you grow up and just enjoy being young. You only get to be young for such a small part of your life, just cherish every second of it.
Loving the fall shakes and smoothies!
I would tell my younger self to not start smoking (and don’t roll your eyes at me young lady!!!) Seriously, if there’s one thing I could take back it would be to have had that 1st cigarette out of sheer curiosity. Going on 6 years smoke-free but I always wonder what damage I’ve done being completely hooked all these years.
I would tell my 16 year old self to enjoy your health for two more years before you get really sick! And also to not worry so much about what people think.
My advice to my younger self would be: relax, everything’s going to be OK.
:)
Don’t look to others to make you happy! Also don’t take out that loan!
I would tell myself…try to be less self-conscious and hurry up and accept yourself already!! It makes life way more fun!
I would tell myself to live life to the fullest, save the worrying for when you are older!
I repinned your nut butter crusted parsnip fries!
I would tell my younger self to enjoy running in PE in school and to make it a daily habit! An hour dedicated to exercising, five days a week?!
I also pinned a recipe!
Thanks for the giveaway & Happy 4th Blogiversary!
I tweeted
I would tell my younger self to enjoy every moment in life…especially the small ones. It is equally important to be confident in yourself and to stay true to yourself. Never compromise who you are!
I tweeted the contest :)
Plus – to my younger self… don’t worry so much about what other people think of you or how you should be! Follow your heart and your instincts!
I would tell myself to eat healthier. it’ll matter more in the long run!
I would tell myself to eat better, and take better care of my body while I am young. You only get one life.
I would tell my younger self that you should not be afraid to be you. Be confident in yourself and allow yourself to become who you really are…you don’t have to eat dead animals or use products tested on animals just because so many other people do. And go adopt a rescue dog from a shelter…don’t wait until you are 29 years old to do it. Life is too short to miss all those cuddles and kisses.
I would tell my younger self to stop comparing herself to others. That her successes and failures are what they are regardless of what other people have done.
You are in complete control of your celebrations!
