Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

Advice to my younger self would be to enjoy being as a sixteen year old rather than always wishing for the next stage in life!
I would tell myself to listen to my instincts when it comes to major life decisions, instead of focusing on what I perceive to be others’ expectations of me or the ‘right’ thing to do.
I would tell myself (as I still do) to not rely on so much and care what other people think and what others think I should do.
Thanks for the great giveaway!
I would tell my younger self to have more fun. Yes, school is very important, but so are friends! I also would have told my younger college self to do a study abroad program!
I would tell my younger self that although sometimes it feels as though your whole world is crumbling along with everything you know, you will come out the other end and much better things are waiting for you!
I’ve tweeted as well!
I would tell my younger self to treat your money wisely. Don’t look back in 10, 20, 30 years & have to ask “What the heck did I spend it all on?! Where did it all go??” Save, budget, and spend wisely on *quality* items/events. Be wise!
Although I am still young myself, I would tell my younger self at the age of 16 to eat as may healthy foods, fruits, and veggies that you could get your hands on! I’ve learned that healthy eating habits contribute to feeling fabulous, having clear skin, and knowing what you’re eating is helping you to succeed!
just tweeted the giveaway – thanks for doing this!!!!
Pinned Baked Apples Stuffed With Cinnamon Date Pecan Oatmeal!
I would tell me 16 year old self “hakuna matata”
I would tell my younger self to stay a kid! From that ages of 13-15 I was so excited about growing up and being older. Growing up happens so fast! It’s important to be a kid and live carefree while you can because as you get older, those nasty old “responsibilities” creep up on you..resistance is futile. However, I love every day of my college life and adult life and am looking forward to the future challenges it presents me. I am starting also to understand the importance of enjoying the ride of life and to not be so hard on yourself :)
I would tell my 16yr old self a million things!
If I had to pick one I would suppose it should be to be present and love yourself right now, just the way you are (okay–maybe that’s two).
Thanks for the chance at the awesome blender!!
I’d advise my 16 year old self to not get married until I actually grow up!
Hey! Tweeted your message @alfeuerer
I’m still young, and still learning, but one piece of advice I would give myself is to follow my heart and try not to care what others think -still working on it though. :/
I would tell 16 year old me not to try to be so much older because one day, you will be that old and want to be younger. I would also say that by the time you are 24, most of those people who brought drama will be gone and those things that were “so important” as a teenager don’t carry much weight anymore. Stay pure and wait for God to bring you the right man because he is a keeper (shout out to my hubby!)
My 16 year old self grew up when men were far more important to a father than daughters. I would tell my 16 year old self to believe in herself, trust her instincts and don’t concern herself with what others think.
I would tell myself how deeply I was loved by the Lord!!!
I would tell my younger self to be more financially conscious! Think about what I was spending my money on and be smarter about saving. It’s worth it in the long run! That weird $40 t-shirt that looks cool now, might not be worn next year :)
Thanks for the blender offer!
