Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

I would tell myself not to worry about what other people think; just be happy.
I would tell my younger self to hang in there, most of my worries will eventually mean nothing, and life will keep getting better by the day!!
Congratulations on 4 years and thank you so much for the giveaway!! Love your blog!
I would definitely tell my younger self, or any 16-year old for that matter, that it-gets-better. Being a teenager is such a hard time in most everybody’s life. I wish I knew that it didn’t matter what the “cool kids” were doing, or thinking. I wish I believed in myself and abilities, focused more on school work instead of boys and didn’t go along with the crowd as much.
Ok, I guess this has turned into “10 things you would tell your younger self”. :)
Dont sweat the samall stuff!!!
Pinned the Twix Bars!!
I would tell my 16 year old self to stay away from Bobby…he is BAD news!
Dear younger self,
You are beautiful, kind, and talented. Please don’t agonize too much over those who don’t treat you as such—they have their own challenges. Always strive for what’s possible, because it will bring you great surprises and help you find the joy in every moment. Finally, get enough rest, always use sunscreen, and don’t go to sleep angry. Love, me.
I would tell my younger self to get over your hangups about food. Thanks for the chance to win a blendtec!
Relax! It won’t work out as you plan but it will all work out.
I would tell my younger self to think about the future a little and not worry about spending so much time with my “friends.” Thank you for the giveaway :)
**Pinned a recipe! I think I will be trying the Detox Salad soon.
I would tell myself to not worry so much about being “cool”…..it really wasn’t worth it in the end!
I would tell my younger self that life goes really fast
and yes 40 does come around even though you think your
Gonna be 16 forever! Don’t get so wrappped up in
the superficial it’s just fluff. & definitely choose the guy
Who has moral character than just being the hottest.
Don’t let anyone stop you from living out your dreams.
Don’t worry about what others might think and do what feels right for me. Also, take more risks, what is the worse that can happen, and stop worrying about anything, that won’t change it!
I also repinned this post!
Don’t give up on the things you love (really love), no matter what passing folly may seem more important at the time. AKA obsessing over the boy down the street instead of practicing piano or spending time with your 4-H Club. You’re going to want those latter passions much more than you’re going to care about “Jack” ten years down the line…
I would tell myself to travel more, try harder in school rather than making it all about socializing, to save my money and to enjoy living in the moment and not always wanting to grow up so fast… Once you get here you’re wishing you could be young again :)
I pin your recipes all the time!!! Here are a few that I’ve pinned in the past:
– Black Bean & Butternut Squash Burritos
– Butternut Squash Mac’n Cheeze
– 10 Tomato Recips to Knock Your Socks Off
– Grilled Tofu w/ Pineapple Salsa & Coconut Rice
Tweeted :)
Don’t be so hard on yourself!
