Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

My advice to my younger self would be: don’t worry so much about future plans–it’ll all work out! Congrats on your blogiversary! I’m a long time reader and first time commenter–love the blog!
I would tell my younger self to relax a bit and enjoy life more. You don’t stay young forever.
I would tell my younger self, to enjoy learning more than worrying about grades!
I would tell my younger self that if my mom didn’t like my boyfriend…she wasn’t trying to ruin my life, and chances are had a pretty good reason for thinking that
Hmmm advice to my younger self? I just found out I was pregnant so how about future advice? Be patient, calm and loving with yourself. No one is perfect!
I would tell myself to just be myself! Don’t compromise yourself for others!
Congratulations on 4 years!
I would tell my younger self to enjoy life and not stress out so much over little things.
I’d tell my 16-year-old self that swallowing anger isn’t always a virtue–that sometimes anger is righteous, and sometimes you’re right, not “harsh,” to feel and express it. What an excellent prompt–if only I could really give myself that advice!
I’m a constant lurker but haven’t shown myself around comments much. I’m glad you stuck with this, Angela.
(I tweeted, too. :D)
Hi Ange,
I have tweeted the giveaway, and here is some advice I’d give to my younger self:
Always stay true to yourself and to what you know is right. Even when your friends may be doing things you know are wrong, walk your own path away from this and let yourself shine. The rewards are many.
Happy 4 year blog-versary Angela!
I would tell my younger self to “stop and enjoy the view” a little more often. I’ll get where I’m going no matter what, and if a detour presents itself, don’t be afraid to take it. A little less intensity, and a little more curiosity and interest in the present.
I would tell my younger self to lighten up and have more fun instead of stressing about getting good grades all the time!
Dear Young Carrie…you are not the center of the universe. Think less about yourself and more about others. Don’t whine. Don’t complaine. Your life is really pretty great. More smiles and less grumps.
I would tell my 16 year old self to quit worrying so much about grades, friends, and well, EVERYTHING. I spent years of my life freaking out about these things and have only settled into my own skin in the last few years, such a waste and unnecessary stress!
Advice I would give to my younger self: A life of service to others is a life of happiness.
Tweeted the giveaway! @mk_robinson
Just do what YOU love and f- the rest. If my younger self only knew… shoot!
Tweeted the giveaway….then I got this strange message from the future……
Note to younger self:
the saying “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know” is definitely true
Also I tweeted about the giveaway!
I would tell my 16 year old self to eat healthier and learn to love to run!!!
