And The Stress Melts Away

December 5, 2009

Ahhhh last night was so much fun celebrating my CTV interview!!! :D :D

IMG_7807

I enjoyed my drinks! I had a couple glasses of one of my fav. wines- Wolf Blass Merlot. And then I had a few sips of Eric’s beer.

IMG_7798

We went to Baton Rouge because we just love this restaurant. We used to be regulars here back when we lived in Toronto and we had one just a 1 minute walk away from our condo.

IMG_7805

I had a roasted vegetable sandwich (sans mayo and goat cheese). The veggies were sautéed in a balsamic vinaigrette. For some reason this sandwich wasn’t as good the last time I had it. It was a bit soggy! Still good, but not perfect…

(Sorry for the poor picture quality…using my point and shoot in very dim lighting!)

IMG_7796

I had it with a side of roasted cinnamon apples. I asked for them without butter.

IMG_7797

I love baked apples…I think I might have to make some this weekend!

IMG_7800

Eric had his ribs and bacon infused mashed potatoes. Oh boy does he love this meal!!!

It was such a great night!

Contest Winners:

1. US Aurorea Yoga Mat Giveaway:

Congrats to mmclaughlin!

"You could put the extra couch in another room if you’ve got space for it – like a guest room or office – more seats/beds always come in handy! Or selling/giving it away on Craig’s list or to friends would be good too. We acquired our dining room table/chairs when friends of ours wanted to “upgrade”. As for the yoga mat – I’d have to go with the Violet I think. I like the Ocean and Seamist, and while I’ve had blue and green yoga mats before, I’ve never had a violet one! :)"

2. Canadian Oral-B Triumph Giveaway

Untitffled

Congrats to Marian!

"My first dentist visit involved me being carried in kicking and screaming. Not good. But now I go regularly for cleanings and have actually been flossing daily for the past 2 weeks! It’s *almost* routine. :)"

3. Canadian Daily Spark Glo Pack Winner:

Congrats to pambws!

EMPOWER sounds…well, empowering. Dark chocolate & coffee! I’m not much of a chocoholic, but dark chocolate…that’s a real treat. Combined with a cup of really good coffee…that is decadence.

4. US Daily Spark Glo Pack Winner:

This winner was selected by Daily Spark, so I am just relaying the info!

Congrats to SPMOM2!

To the first three winners, please email me (angela [at] ohsheglows.com) your mailing address, full name, and contact number. Thank you and congrats!!!!

I wish I could give everyone a prize!!

Do you ever feel like you will never win a contest when you enter?

Sometimes I wonder if giveaways are a good thing on the blog. I mean yes it is awesome for the people who win, but it is also very disappointing for all of those who get their hopes up and don’t win. What do you guys think? Do you like contests or could you do without them??

~~~~~
Needless to say after the past few days, I have a LOT of baking to catch up on! My goal is to bake at minimum 400 Glo Bars this weekend, if not more! Eric is going to be painting all weekend again. The excitement will be over…that is until the interview airs on Sunday night!
I’m off to have a green monster, workout, and then begin my long day of baking!
SKETCHIE Updated his blog!!!
I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far :)
Aw, yay for celebratory meals!! I, personally, haven’t entered a contest on a blog…yours or anyone else, but I can honestly say that even if I entered every single one, and never won, it wouldn’t deter me from reading. Sure, they can be a fun perk if you win, but it’s not the reason I keep reading. :)
I love baked apples, too. They remind me of home! Is Eric drinking a Blue Moon? That’s my fave beer. You get a serving of fruit with that orange! :)
Geez! That is a huge freakin’ plate of meat n’ potatoes!
I love contests. I never win any, but I love entering in them. I read a ton of blogs, but I rarely comment (thank goodness for the bloggers! My comments are loooonggg), but when there’s a contest I have a chance to swoop in and get involved.
All I need is a dip in the water in order to continuously comment. The only contests I could do without are the ones that you have to do lots of work for and the best gets a prize. The equal opportunity ones are the ones that get me. :)
I like contests, even when there is not a very good chance of winning. Ha, I guess the trick is to find smaller blogs with fewer readers! I am doing a giveaway of a signed copy of Eating Animals and not many people have entered at all!
I am always excited for the people who do win! I bet it makes their day! And, I have won 2 books in the past month, which I am very grateful for!
Also, it is fun to get new commenters through contests!
there are a few things i don’t like about blog giveaways
when we are asked to go here and do this and then here and do this and leave me a twitter and then go here and email saying you did all this and that
and when the same company has sent the same products to a lot of the blog community…like those bathrobes everyone was giving away awhile ago
BUt it’s your blog and your (or their) rules so keep them coming.
I agree with you totally about the go here and do this, add me to your blog roll, tweet about me, get extra entries, that sort of ticks me off.
i completely agree with both of you – when companies ask me to get readers to tweet, join on facebook, blah blah blah, i say no thanks… its too tedious!
I love giveaways on blogs, and I don’t mind having to leave a comment or answer a question. I don’t like having to add someone to your blogroll to get an entry, posting about it on your blog, etc. I don’t mind occasionally tweeting if it is something I really want to win, though.
But overall, I do like having giveaways on blogs because it gives readers a chance to learn about new products, and the lucky few get to try them for free!
Baked apples are the best. I do a ‘faux’ baked apple in the microwave when I need the fix :)
Being regulars somewhere is so much fun. Mike and I are just becoming regulars at this restaurant/bar down the road.
That looks like a fun celebration!! Your sandwich looks delicious.
I’m curious– I’m from Louisiana– do you know why the restaurant is named Baton Rouge? It doesn’t look like cajun-style cuisine or anything…
Congrats!!
I’m from Baton Rouge (still here, actually) and anytime I read that Angela went to Baton Rouge my heart jumps. Then I remember the Canadian restaurant. Oh well…
Angela,
I don’t leave comments very often just because of lack of time but I had to tell you that you are awesome. You are such an inspiration. Every time I read your blog you motivate me to do better.
I just wanted to let you know that I thought it was so exciting that you are going to be on the news. I’m sure it took so much courage to do something like that. I’m sure it turned out great.
Congrats!
I love the contests – even though I am usually pretty sure the odds are not in my favour to win!
Bouncing off what tami said, I don’t like when the contests ask me to go to another site. Otherwise, your contests are entirely up to you! I will keep entering knowing that I likely will never win. Though I really could use a yoga mat…holding out for xmas.
Rickards White!! One of my favourites!! The beer-soaked orange is the best part ;)
I’m neutral when it comes to contests. The only thing I don’t like about them is that the majority of them aren’t open to Canadians, which gets annoying after a while.
Congrats! You deserve to celebrate!
There’s a restaurant called Baton Rouge?? I grew up in Baton Rouge, LA! (I live in Chicago now). Oh man, if I ever go to Toronto, I will have to go there.
I love contests. I never win but still hold out hope that one day I will! :)
I enjoy the giveaways. Yes, it is disappointing when you don’t win. But you can’t win if you don’t play! One day I’m hoping to win something really good to make up for all the times I lost! LOL Love the apples!! YUMMYYYY
