I never thought I’d say this, but I’m in the final days of finishing my cookbook manuscript and handing it in to my editor. After 15 months of testing recipes, writing, and shooting photography, I finally feel like things are coming together. Very, very slowly, mind you. I’ve shot about 50 recipe photographs so far, but that means I still have at least 50 recipes to remake and photograph. gulp, gulp, gulp. I’ve heard the editing process is pretty brutal, so I’m just taking it one day at a time and not looking too far ahead. The journey of getting my recipes to a place where I’m happy (and all my recipe testers) has taken much longer than I anticipated, but I didn’t want to rush the process. Quality over quantity, I say. If this is the only cookbook I ever write, I want it to be something I’m proud of. And seriously, it might be the only cookbook I ever write!
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hello! I might not be able to post as much as I’d like to over the next couple weeks, but just know that I’m thinking of you always and looking forward to sharing some recipe inspiration as soon as I can. Right now, every creative cell in my body seems to be on hiatus, but it will recharge soon enough. Isn’t that what red wine is for??

The Flavor Bible, described as “the essential guide to culinary creativity”, profiles ingredients and the corresponding herbs, spices, seasonings, etc. that pair well with each of these ingredients. As someone who has grown to love recipe creation, this book is a resource tool that I turn to when I’m looking for a nudge in the right direction. When I have an ingredient in mind that I’d like to cook with, I often look to this book for suggestions of other “compatible” ingredients that I can include in the dish. For my full review, see here.

I have been reading Diet For A Small Planet by frances moore lappé. It is such an interesting take on becoming more plant-based. It was written a while ago but still applies to today’s world and it was actually updated to explain how it relates to now. A very smart eye-opening read that has some recipes, tricks to cooking faster beans and some scientific research too! A lot of it is about food politics and how the industry is flawed to make you think there is not enough food for everyone.

I am reading a book (study guide, really) about building your own theology. I’m reviewing it to see if we’ll use it for an upcoming small group at church and it’s pretty good!
I’m reading a Vegetarian Quinoa cookbook lately. It’s a gift from my inlaws…. I just omit or substitute out the dairy!
Last book I actually read was the 50 Shades of Grey series… Sad, I know! Three kids keep me busy!!!
The only books I am reading lately are cook books! I have been reading Chef Chloe’s new vegan desserts cookbook. I also borrowed Veganomicon from my mom and I love it. It would be wonderful to have a copy of my own!!
I just finished Caitlin Moran’s “How to be a Woman” – hilarious! I definitely recommend this book to all ladies with a sense of humour.

Hi! I just finished reading ” I Am My Mother’s Daughter, Making Peace with Mom Before It’s Too Late” by Iris Krasnow. It was a wonderful book, that every woman should read. It helps the reader to understand the relationship between a mothers and daughters and how to repair it if needed, or to just appreciate the mother that you have.

I just finished “The Light Between Oceans” by M.L. Stedman which was really good. But my favorite book of ALL time is: “The Gargoyle” by Andrew Davidson (who just happens to be a Canadian author!) – it is a MUST read!
I am currently reading Her: A Memoir by Christa Parravani. It is very intense and beautifully written.
I’m reading “A Sudden Glory -God’s Lavish Response to your Ache For Something More” by Sharon Jaynes. It’s great to see how God’s glory is revealed even in the so-called little things. I have Let Them Eat Vegan and quite enjoy it. I would love to have the other 2 however I would like to offer my ‘entry’ to Anna who posted above so that she can have 2
I’ve been reading the Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series! The stories are so fun to read.
I’m currently reading 100 Years of Solitude. It’s an amazing, classic book that I’ve been meaning to read for years.
