“Always A Bridesmaid”
Hi everyone!! I’m Leah, the writer of Simply Fabulous Now – and a long time friend of Ange!
You’ve probably seen my name thrown around OSG a little bit, and I’m always happy to see it’s in a good way ;) I was pretty excited when Ange asked me to do a guest post for her while she is out west visiting her family! Lucky girl!!
I thought long and hard about what I might want to talk about with all of you wonderful readers of Oh She Glows, and I immediately thought of two things that are happening in my life right now and are so very important to me.
My health and my wedding!
When I say “happening in my life right now” and then list health as the first point, I actually want to say that the importance of health cannot be stressed enough! I began my journey to health about 2 years ago to the date! It was literally this time in 2007 when I really got serious and took matters into my own hands. You can see my weight loss story here, as I won’t go into loads of details in this guest post but what I can say is as soon as I got real and made significant changes I really noticed changes in my body & mind.
I feel like this could turn into an episode of Dr. Phil where he sits down with a guest, asks them loads of questions and then says “So how’s that workin’ for ya?” …. and literally, I asked myself the same thing two years ago. Truth be told, what I was doing wasn’t working! It wasn’t until I looked at everything I was doing, and then completely did a 180 turn and changed the way I looked at myself, my food, my exercise and my body. I started eating REAL FOOD. Yeah, I know right? Loads of fruits & veggies, unprocessed foods, WHOLE foods.. all the good stuff! I exercised because it was good for my body, not because I had to burn ‘x’ amount of calories before I went to bed. I started looking at exercise as a way to treat my body good, rather than just to burn off the food I had eaten. Once I looked at exercise in this way, I started enjoying it more.
Now, where the heck does my post title come in?
You know the saying… Always a Bridesmaid ….. never a … wrong!
I am getting married in August!
This brings me to the next most important thing happening in my life right now. I live in the UK (originally Canadian though!) and I am marrying my British fiancé this August!
Let’s take a walk down memory lane shall we??
Maid of Honour in Wedding #1 (my Sister’s!)- October 2004!
Bridesmaid in Wedding # 2 – June 2006!
Bridesmaid in Wedding #3 (for Ange!!!!)- August 2008!
Maid of Honour in Wedding #4– Sept. 2008
This summer, I am the bride!! All 4 of these girls are in my wedding and I couldn’t be more happy!
Now, where does health and wedding tie in together?
Not to sound vain, but as any bride knows- we all want to look our best!! I know what you are thinking….but every bride glows no matter what! The happiness takes over and you will look beautiful!
Yes, yes.. I’m sure that will happen too ;) but… let’s be honest here, I think every girl knows that we’d love to feel confident and look our best for our big day.
What do I eat to achieve this?
This makes an appearance at least once a day.
Oh yes, the oh-so-popular green monster!!
My diet also has lots of these in it:
…and this…
Don’t forget this..
and …
I ALWAYS try (try!) to save room for this:
Because what’s life without a little ice cream right??
There is much more to see than all of ^that^….check it out!
Along with the eats, comes exercise. Right now i’m training for my first half marathon!!
I am running a race here in the UK on July 4th! This is my first half and I couldn’t be more excited. I have seen many bloggers take the plunge into the racing world and I knew it was about time that I did it myself!!!
All the healthy eats, and exercise… will get me ready for this!!
Dress teaser!!!
I hope you enjoyed this guest post as much as I enjoyed putting it together!!
