Healthy Valentine’s Day Recipe Contest Slideshow!

February 10, 2009

Good morning!

Sorry about the late morning post, but I have been a busy girl sorting through all of the wonderful & drool worthy Valentine’s Day submissions!

I must say this contest is getting me REALLY excited for Valentine’s Day!

Stay tuned tonight for the contest winners!!! Eric is going to be judging this contest because I can’t decide!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had an awesome rev-me-up Green monster this morning after putting together the slideshow. I was starving (it’s hard work you know!) :D
The loot:
  • 1 large leaf of organic kale
  • 1 cup unsweetened Almond Breeze
  • 1 Tbsp flax
  • 1 large banana
  • 1/3 cup organic frozen blueberries
  • 1 spoonful of Maranatha’s Raw Almond Butter
It was absolutely delicious!
This smoothie has about 365 calories (or 265 without the Tbsp of Almond Butter) and it seriously powers me up for the morning! I have a snack mid-morning depending on how I feel. Adding the Almond Butter gives it more endurance.
I love this picture I took of Sketchie!! So beautiful the way the light was shining in the room.
Well, I am off for another day of stripping wall paper!!! Hubby is putting me to work. We are renting this steamer on a daily basis and it is EXPENSIVE so we have to get this done as soon as possible!!! Ahhhhhhhhh….save me!!!!
See you later for LOTS OF FUN!
PS- EEK!!! I have a phone interview tomorrow morning at 930am for a contract job I REALLY WANT!!!!! It would pay excellent and I *think* it would be research from home. I applied to this one a month ago???
This is probably a dumb question, but how much can you taste the kale in the smoothie? Does it have an over all sweet taste? Thanks :)
It totally depends how much kale you put in it…I can taste it in the smoothie because I use LOTS of kale….but it isnt overpowering. The fruit helps sweeten it up lots. I would start small with how much kale you are adding in and work your way up. :) Kale is very bitter so it is best to start small and you can always add it in!
Wow, everyone is soooo creative! As exciting as the much-anticipated slide show was, I personally can’t wait until you share the recipes. Either way though I think Eric has a really tough job on his hands!
Angela – I have been copying your smoothie recipe but use half a banana and then add half of a peeled and seedless cucumber to the mix. With the kale, cuc, blueberries, banana, flax and milk, it’s all a wonderful combination and no flavor is overpowering!
Great video. And loved the music. I was jamming along.
My vote goes for the raspberry cream cheese stuffed french toast. I almost drooled just hearing the name!
I found your blog a few weeks ago and I really enjoy reading it. I just now realized that you are in Ontario. I too live in Ontario. Small world.
