Morning everyone!
I had a great run today! Day two of my half-marathon training program.
Today was my 3 mile tempo-run:
- 0.10 mile walking warm-up, incline 7, speed 3.5
- 3 mile Tempo run (0.5 miles at 5.5 mph, incline 7; 2 miles at 6.0 mph, incline 7; 0.5 miles at 5.5 mph, incline 7)
- 0.10 mile cool down
- Total duration: 35 mins.
- Max heart rate: 174 bpm (89% of max)
- Avg heart rate: 159 bpm (82% of max)
Tuesdays are Intensity Tuesdays according to my training program!
And let me tell you this run today was intense! I was dripping in sweat at the end of the workout and I was out of breath for most of the workout thanks to the lucky incline 7. :D
Wednesday is my ‘off’ day as I have to go into work early. I am looking forward to the rest!

Curious what I fuel my body with while at work?
From left to right:
- 1 heaping cup of Spelt Cereal
- 2 servings of baby carrots
- 1/3 cup organic spaghetti sauce (I like dipping my bread in it!)
- 2 slices Ekiezel Sesame Seed Bread
- My homemade Banana Bread Larabar
- 1 large Gala Apple, chopped
- 1 Cashew Cookie Larabar
My poor bread is missing its’ Tofurkey today. I ran out of Tofurkey so my lunch will be missing some protein and probably won’t keep me AS full as usual. I must remember to get some tonight!
I always save the Larabar for my drive home from work.
It gives me something to look forward to at the end of a long day. It also makes my hectic drive home seem a bit more pleasurable. :D I also don’t arrive at home ravenous for dinner.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again- nuts are a WONDER food for killing the appetite!
My lunches are high in volume and keep my hunger at bay for the entire day. I have my veggies and cereal in the morning, and save the apple for the afternoon. And of course the Larabar for the drive home. I find spreading out my lunch helps prevent blood sugar crashes.

And just as I thought my morning was going fabulous….Sketchie peed on our bed!!!! ahhhhh. I’m so upset…he peed right through to the down duvet comforter. We have no washing machine to wash it either, because it is broken and our new ones don’t arrive until Friday!!! Now I really gotta rush to get out the door!
*Deep breaths*
Have a great day everyone! Stay tuned for my cookbook collection :D

…Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes.

I just discovered your blog and totally love it!
Helpful hint: Sometimes cats can mistake a “duvet” for their kitty litter, due to its plush-ness, especially in a new environment. (I learnt this from experience and once I removed the duvet and replaced it with an old-fashioned quilt, it never happened again)
Hope this helps and good luck with the marathon :)
sorry about the doggy pee :( have a great tuesday and I love all the little containers of food I need to get on that!
UGH cat pee is the WORST!! Once you can wash it, throw a little baking soda and/or vinegar in with the wash, it’ll get the smell completely out! Then dry the down comforter with a tennis ball or clean shoe to fluff it back up.
Not that you asked for laundry advice :)
awwww.. poor kitty! and poor duvet! it must be weird for him still being in a new house..
we had to put a kitty litter box upstairs in the bathroom for my older cat, she often couldnt make it down the stairs in time to pee and would end up just going on the stairs or on the bathroom floor.. now she is doing much better!
Sorry about the Sketchie pee – I used to have a cat who peed on the bet all the time and it was so frustrating!
Your lunch looks delicious with so many components, though it seems a little low in protein to me, especially with your increased exercise schedule.
LOVE the quote and love the look of your homemade Larabars!
What a great display of eats!
Hi there! how many calories would you say you consume in a day? Do you track that kind of thing or do you just go for eating healthfully?
FAAABULOUS workout and eats!!
Aww, Sketchie – gotta forgive him though, since he’s just too cute!! :-D
My daily Larabar “flavor of choice” today is Banana Bread, in honor of your post from yesterday :-D
Thanks everyone! :D
Sally You are right I am lacking protein today- I meant to mention that I ran out of my Tofurkey slices which give me an additional 10-15 grams of protein. Thanks for the reminder!!
I had to quit my larabar addiction a few years ago due to the cost, but now I think I may try my own!
Keep up the good work with the marathon training! I need to find a schedule that works for me. This week I switched my schedule completely – I am on “Day 2” of heading to the gym at 5 am to workout. Waiting until the afternoon wasy leaving me waaaayyy too many opportunities to skip! This morning was an adventurous drive in the ice and snow – I know you can relate!
Hope your day gets better!
Love the quote by Charles Swindoll! I’ve read some of his various writings before. :)
hi! I love your blog. I also love that quote by Charles Swindoll. He is awesome.
Are you a vegetarian? I love many of your eats! I am not a veggie, just a veggie wannabe. ;) Come over and say hello sometime!
p.s. What do you pour on your spelt flakes?
Wow amazing run. So fast for such a high incline. I have to work toward that!
