Operation hydrate continues…
As part of my lunch I had a huge English Cucumber bathed in my Better than Bottled balsamic vinaigrette and freshly ground black pepper.
Mmmmm.
I also whipped up a batch of my cheezy savoury oats!
I. LOVE. THESE. OATS.
Did I mention that before 2010, I never ate oatmeal? Little did I know, I just had to figure out a couple ways to enjoy it and then I got hooked!
VOO + Savoury oats changed my life!
In today’s bowl I mixed in 1/2 cup black beans and1/2 cup tomato sauce and lots of sea salt and pepper. It was so crazy good, but it made me very hot.
It is very warm in this house today so I made my second batch of banana soft serve for dessert to cool me down! I am definitely getting my potassium in today.
Today was a new twist on it.
Crunchy Chia Banana Soft Serve
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 frozen banana
Directions: Process in a food processor and scrape down sides of bowl as needed. Sprinkle with cacao nibs.
It was really thick and crunchy from the chia seeds!
Chia seeds are supposed to be a great pre and post workout food (they are hydrating + tons of antioxidants and omega fats), so I am getting in lots before tomorrow’s race.
And now for my second video…Please don’t mind my huge dorkiness.
Off to the wedding ceremony!
PS- I snuck some dates in my purse in case I need some extra carbs tonight.
This is what my life has come to. Sneaking dates into a wedding!
The dates in your purse made me laugh – perfect quick snack though!
I love watching your videos…so delightful. Have fun at the wedding tonight! Just pop in a date every time you want to reach for a cocktail :)
hahah oh man I can see it now…total sugar high tonight!
I keep thinking that chia seeds look like fish eggs, when I see them mixed into something!! Ewww…I know they’re good for you (or so I’ve heard), but I get that visual and I can’t get passed it. :P
All your beautiful pictures of this banana softserve stuff really make me want to try it. How many bananas makes 1 serving of soft serve?
1 banana :)
Great video! :)
Love your savory oats….. yummy….
greets from vienna
I ALWAYS sneak snacks into wedding…. usually bars, but dates are a great idea too :)
Lovin’ the videos!! The rains look awesome – love the addition of rice crisps!!
Love the idea of Chia Seeds in Banana Softserve! Must try!
I loved the video! “I like clapping, I don’t know why” <– lol
And seriously, how do I always drool over your banana soft serve and yet I've never made my own?? *shame*
Enjoy the wedding!
those savoury oats look delish I can’t wait to try them! I’m already obsessed with your VOO so this could become my new obsession lol
Loving the videos! Next Food Network Star what what!!!
Love the video! Where do you get your chia seeds? I have looked for them locally (I live in Colorado) and cannot find them.
Mary, I get my chia seeds from Amazon.com.
I love cucumbers!!! Funny you snuck dates into the wedding. He he!
BTW I haven’t clicked through from reader in a while and wanted to say love the new layout. Beautiful photo in the header.
Thank you!
best of luck on your race girl!
isn’t pre-race carboloading always an excuse for keeping dried fruit handy??
Those savory oats look so good but every time I go to try them out, I decide I’m craving sweet oats instead haha!
Have fun at the wedding tonight. :)
I love your videos! I definitely am going to have to make the chocolate covered raisins. :)
The Dollar store idea was great, but I’d be concerned that there might be lead in the plates. Have you ever checked?
Ohhh no, I haven’t! Do you know how I might check?
I’m pretty sure you can just pick up a lead test kit (they have them at the hardware store near where I live, so you might try there). You could probably get one online, too. Good luck :)
Dates in your purse and a date on your arm (Eric!)
Everything looks delicious, as usual!
It’s amazing how you can add a certain food into your diet and then not be able to live without it from that point on! I use to hate oatmeal, now it’s the only thing that gives me energy for the day. Have fun at the wedding ceremony! Glad to hear you decided to go :)
