Morning everyone!
I am rushing around this morning to get to a early work meeting this morning! Thankfully the roads aren’t as bad as yesterday so I hope that it won’t take me too long to get in this morning.
As you may know, today was my chosen rest day off of exercise. :)
I thought it would be timely to discuss the benefits of rest days from this great article at Runner’s World. Of course this article applies to all types of training!
Recovery is an important–but often neglected–part of training plans.

It has always been a bit difficult for me to convince myself that I need rest days off, but training for a marathon has forced me to take it more seriously and do find out the benefits of these rest days.
They are important!

Ok I gotta jet- I have 9 mins to eat and get out the door!
See you later for How I came up with the name for this blog…. :) And much more…
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
– Eleanor Roosevelt
It’s funny you posted this because I woke up and my body was so sore and I decided to take a rest day!
Wonderful advice! And I can’t wait to hear the inspiration behind the name!
I have always heard it best this way! ” YOU ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR LAST RECOVERY DAY!” way to go on regestering for that HALF!!!!
Great article! I completely agree! I struggle with hip problems, so it’s always important for me to take days off.
so true! great advice :)
I recently discovered your blog and I love it! It’s so motivational :)
I ran two half-marathons and a marathon and I can’t help to agree! It’s just that sometimes I ended up having way too many rest days, lol :)
Btw, I just now realized that yours is also a wordpress blog (I think, right?)
Great article!! So true about needing to rest… it can be hard sometimes when you get in a pattern of running/ exercising to give up a day, but it really is so necessary.
Can’t wait to read about how you came up with the blog!
I can’t thank you enough for this – I don’t allow myself rest days, and really need to rethink that.
VERY interesting stuff here!
