Pretty Winter Make-up

January 1, 2009

Good afternoon!

I hope 2009 is treating you all well! :D My year has started off pretty freaking fantastic. :D Ok, I am exaggerating a bit, but it’s all in the attitude right?

I made sure to have a great workout to start the year off on the right foot.

The workout:

  • 0.10 mile walking warm-up, 4.0 mph, incline 3%
  • 5 mile ‘easy’ run, 6.5 mph, incline 3% (48 mins. 20 secs)
  • 0.15 mile walking cool-down, 4.0 mph, incline 3%
  • Max heart rate: 169 bpm (87% of max)
  • Avg heart rate: 154 bpm (79% of max)
  • Total duration: 50 mins.
  • Feel the burn: 424 kcals

It was a great workout.

What kept me going for 5 miles?

I was picturing how I was going to design my half-marathon outfit! Let me just say this: It will knock your socks off! Weeeeeeee.

This run brought my weekly mileage to 13 miles so far! I am right on track. :)

  • Friday: Either another OFF day or another ARMY Fitness Challenge (2 miles)
  • Saturday: X-training (my new workout video is due to arrive!)
  • Sunday: Long run (7 miles)

This would bring my weekly total to 22 miles.

My good friend Leah is also training for a half marathon this spring! She told me her resolution for 2009 is to run 1,000 miles!! How cool is that?? I did some quick math and I determined that that would also be a realistic goal for myself. It averages about 19 miles per week.

I think I may join Leah in the 1,000 mile year!

Pretty Winter Make-up

Lately I have sort of gotten into a make-up rut. Same make-up, different day if you will.

So on this fresh new start to the year, I thought it would be timely to change up my make-up routine!

So I present to you a little demo on a pretty winter make-up look. :)

I have still to this day not been able to find a shade of red that looks good with my skin. I think I figured out why today. My skin is much better suited to berry shades, which is why I think this Clinique lip gloss (in Cherry Berry shade) always gets me compliments when I wear it:

If your skin gets pale like mine in the winter, this shade looks awesome next to pale, winter skin. It gives a bright ‘pop’ of colour!

Snap, crackle, POP:

Whenever I wear a bright lipcolour, I always make the eyes very light so as to not look like a drag queen/12 year old girl.

Time to set the base:

I lightly dot MAC Concealer on my eyes and then dust with translucent powder to set. Now my eyes are ready for Dry-to-wet liner and eyeshadow!

After doing this, I lightly spread some light coloured eyeshadow by Annabelle with my finger:

Time to Paint on the eye liner:

Then add a subtle sparkle…

Or two…

And you have a pretty and easy winter look:

Do you have different looks or make-up for winter vs. summer seasons?

For myself, one of the biggest changes I need to make is my foundation colour. In the winter, I have to go about 2 shades lighter because my skin gets so pale.

See you tonight for a photo re-cap of my crazy past year!!
