I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

This contest is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
My favorite vegan food would be green smoothies and your Blanket Stew. So yummy!!
For me it’s Cosmic Cookies. Friends brought them over once and we all loved them, but I went to the store that makes them and they were $2 each! Googled it, found the recipe, and haven’t looked back. :0) http://www.planetorganic.ca/goodfood/recipecorner/sweets/cosmiccookies
Wait, stop the press! I just tried your Butternut Squash Mac n Cheeze recipe, and I am officially in love! My new favorite vegan food! Wow! Thanks!! :)
I’ve heard so much about One Lucky Duck from Gena and JL, and now from you! I’d love to try everything in this huge box. RIght now my favorite vegan food is dates stuffed with nut butter! So simple yet decadent.
Eggplant is my favorite food, and that’s vegan. Though the comment above mine made me remember the brownie pumpkin pecan pie that I made for Thanksgiving and it was delicious for vegans and non-vegans alike. Yum!
I pretty much love anything from One Lucky Duck but I have an exceptional weakness for the Blonde Macaroons…yummm.
I’m not sure that nutritional yeast quite counts as a food…but I love everything that I put it on!
And I’m fairly certain that I put it on almost everything I eat.
My FAVORITE would definitively be vegan mac and cheeze! BEST comfort food… and healthier than most too! :)
This may sound boring but I love Almond Milk. It is one of the reasons that I can sustain a Vegan diet.
My favorite vegan food is cashew cheese kale chips!!!!!!!
i don’t think i can pick a favorite food, honestly. i did recently fall in love with sunchokes though. they make a great creamy soup when pureed with fennel and onion. buckwheat crispies with fresh brazil nut or pumpkin seed milk are the shit, too. yum. i’ve never had any but my own, and i’d love to try the one lucky duck ones. you should definitely make your own. it’s easy and you can really have fun with flavor combinations!
Polenta casserole with zucchini, mushroom and tomato, as well as raw enchiladas. Yum!!
Definitely pumpkin soup!

Vegan chocolate!
I love grilled mushrooms with homemade vegan steak suace :)
SQUASH! Vegan butternut squash muffins anyone? With almond or peanut butter!? SO DELICIOUS.
The coffee shop I go to makes these amazing vegan protein balls with heaps of yummy things in them. Super big props to the use if peanut butter!! Yum yum.
I love avocados so much- half an avocado with a squeeze of lemon juice and a sprinkle of sea salt and a dash of cayenne- my favorite, nutritious, savory, vegan snack! Not to mention the color of the flesh of the avocado. I love finding such rich colors in nature.
