I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

This contest is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
To be honest my favorite Vegan food is your brownie, and chocolate chip cookie! Oh yeah, and that Pumpkin Gingerbread cake with spiced frosting is pretty awesome too, and loved by all the kids that tried it!
I have to say your raw chocolate torte is my favorite vegan food!
Since following Oh She Glows, my diet has never been better. It is not only healthier, but also tastes way better. I love that you have featured other heath bloggers too! My favorite vegan foods are vegan over night oats with coconut milk and raw cacoa nibs, edible perspective’s smoky kale salad ( smokiness is from smoked paprika, so good!) and oh she glows’s peanut butter blizzard. Such an awesome way to kick my sweet tooth. I also have to add green monsters, I am a new convert and love them!
Oh my! I discovered One Lucky Duck and Pure Food and Wine after moving far away from NYC. If I ever get back to the city, it’s my dream to eat there. I’ve been enjoying experimenting out of Sarma’s cookbook lately. One of my favorite vegan treats is raw cookie dough. I make bowls of it for dessert all the time. I made Sarma’s chocolate sauce for a Thanksgiving dessert this year and it blew my mind! :-) Thank you so much!
Definitely your itty bitty garlic knots (which I happen to be making tonight for friends)!
Hi there – big fan of your blog!
My favorite Vegan recipe is your blackbean/butternut sqush burrito! Scrumptious!
Oh I have to say kale chips! Every time I get a bunch of kale in my co-op box, I tell myself I’m going to try something new with it….but each and every time they become kale chips! YUM!
Hmm. I’m pretty sure that if I get to try the vegan macaroons, that would be my new favorite for sure. Good luck to me.
SO many yummy choices. Baked sweet potato fries are a big hit these days.. everyone at my house loves them!
It is so hard to choose because there are so many good ones!!! I would say as a staple. . .almond milk and earth balance. As a treat, vegan chocolate tofu mousse :)
I’d have to say my favourite vegan food is leafy greens – and if I had to pick one it would have to be kale. Especially in a smoothie. My other favourite is veggie burgers, and I’m slightly obsessed with finding the best one in the world. :)
Woooowww, this is so awesome! We don’t have any of those vegan cafes here in Brazil :( But thankfully, I have your blog to give me some inspiration to do my own vegan goodies.
Enjoy your trip!
Peanut butter is my alltime favorite food so I would have to go with that. As for recipes, I would have to say your Brownie Pumpkin Pecan Pie. I made it just a few weeks ago for the first time and it was delish!!
Oh, I forgot to say: my favorite vegan food would be a green monster, as it is good anytime of the day!
how about beet green and avocado tacos with homemade salsa?
One of my favorites is One Lucky Duck Tiramisu! Yum! To die for!
I loved pure food & wine! One of my favourite vegan foods is anything from babaycakes nyc! You should check it out if you are still in town. Loving your trip report!
I love kale chips and chocolate/cranberry trail mix!
Hard to choose, but I love vegan mac and cheese!
Macaroons for sure! NYC looked awesome!!
